Close coordination with localities to successfully organize the Vesak Festival 2025

The United Nations Day of Vesak 2025 will take place from May 6 to 8 (from April 9 to 11 of the lunar calendar). The series of activities during the festival are of interest and are eagerly awaited by the people, and localities have prepared plans for the organization.

The United Nations Vesak Day 2025 is an opportunity to introduce Buddhist values, contributing to building a peaceful and happy world. Organizing the Festival in Vietnam is also an opportunity to introduce the image of the country and its people who love peace and affirm the policy of respecting freedom of belief and religion of our Party and State to the international community. During the Festival, there are many cultural festivals such as: Candle lighting ceremony to pray for peace , display of antiques, exhibition of Buddhist cultural products, and enshrinement of relics invited from India.

Most Venerable Thich Duc Thien, Vice President and General Secretary of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, said that the United Nations Day of Vesak 2025 will be held at the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Ho Chi Minh City. This is the fourth time Vietnam has hosted this event, affirming the positive role of Vietnamese Buddhism in the international community. Therefore, in addition to the main activities, worshiping the relics of Buddha Shakyamuni (India's national treasure) is considered a prominent sideline activity.

Tam Chuc Pagoda (Ha Nam) successfully organized the United Nations Day of Vesak 2019 and was chosen as the place to enshrine Buddha's relics (India's national treasure) from April 17 to 21.

Mr. Rajesh Kumar Raina, Executive Director of the International Buddhist Federation, highly appreciated the preparations of the localities. “The United Nations Day of Vesak 2025 and its sideline cultural activities promise to be a solemn international Buddhist event and carry profound symbolic significance for the spiritual relationship between Indian and Vietnamese Buddhism. This is also an occasion to honor the values of compassion, wisdom and solidarity, contributing to spreading the message of peace and sustainable development to the whole world.

The United Nations Day of Vesak 2025 once again affirms the companionship of Buddhism with the nation in the cause of national construction, protection and integration. This is also an important foreign event contributing to enhancing the role of Vietnamese Buddhism in international integration; also an opportunity to introduce the image of the country, Vietnamese people, traditional culture, history, and Vietnamese Buddhist culture to international delegates; develop the potential of spiritual tourism, contributing to the comprehensive development of Vietnam's cooperation with countries around the world.
