“Grassroots reporters”: The extended arm of the press agency

On the journey of continuous development of the provincial press, in recent years, besides professional writers in press agencies, there is a force that has been silently contributing every day, bringing the voice of the Party and the government closer to the people. That is the team of reporters working on grassroots information at the Cultural, Sports and Broadcasting Centers in the area.

Tay Ninh City Culture, Sports and Broadcasting Center is one of the typical units in information and propaganda work at the grassroots level. The unit was established in 2019, on the basis of merging the City Culture - Information and Sports Center with the City Radio Station.

Since its establishment, identifying propaganda work as a key and core task, over the years, the staff and civil servants of the Center's radio and broadcasting team have continuously strived to perform well the task of propagating on the radio system the policies and laws of the Party and State; promptly reflecting the legitimate thoughts and aspirations of the people, contributing to effectively orienting public opinion.

Ms. Lam Thu Huong - Director of the Center for Culture, Sports and Broadcasting of Tay Ninh city said: “Over the years, the quality of propaganda work on the Center's broadcasting system has been continuously improved. This result is thanks to the staff in the broadcasting and broadcasting team always being aware of training political qualities, professional ethics, constantly studying to improve professional qualifications and closely coordinating with sectors and localities to report news promptly and in the right direction.”

With a team of 2 full-time reporters and announcers and a number of part-time officials, in addition to the daily news program, the Center's radio and broadcasting team also produces many radio programs with rich and diverse content to meet people's information access needs such as: Party in life program, Understanding the law, National defense, Security and order, Health and life, Digital transformation, Traffic safety...

“Recently, listening to information on loudspeakers has helped me and the people here to be better informed about legal regulations, policies and guidelines of the Party and State,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Loan, resident of Quarter 2, Ward 1, Tay Ninh City.

In addition to regularly going to the grassroots to search for new sources of information, ensuring timeliness and improving the quality of radio programs, the officers in the team also take on the role of collaborating with the provincial press agencies and fully performing the duties of a reporter of a press agency. With that role, each officer of the radio and broadcasting team of the Center is like an "extended arm" of the provincial press agency at the grassroots level.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Dat - an official of the City's Center for Culture, Sports and Broadcasting shared: "In addition to writing daily news and radio articles, my colleagues and I also film, edit, take photos, write news and articles in collaboration with the Provincial Radio and Television Station and Tay Ninh Newspaper to promptly convey information to the people. Although the work is hard, when the news is broadcast and people respond positively, I feel very happy and proud."

Since the beginning of 2025, the team of officials has produced nearly 300 news and articles broadcast on the Tay Ninh Radio and Television system and Tay Ninh Newspaper. These results have demonstrated the enthusiasm and responsibility for the profession of the radio and broadcasting team's staff, who work in grassroots information work.

With continuous efforts, over the years, individuals of the radio and television broadcasting team and the Center have been awarded many certificates of merit by Party committees and authorities at all levels for their positive contributions in carrying out political tasks.

In particular, in 2019, the Center was honored to receive the Third Class Labor Medal from the President; most recently, in 2024, the Center was awarded a certificate of merit by the Ministry of Information and Communications for its outstanding achievements in grassroots information activities.

In the era of information explosion, when social networks are growing stronger and stronger, the role of grassroots information workers such as radio and broadcasting staff of the City's Center for Culture, Sports and Broadcasting becomes even more important.

They not only convey official information but also contribute to refuting false and harmful information, strengthening trust between the Party, the State and the People. From there, they create social consensus, arouse the sense of responsibility of the People, actively join hands with the Party Committee and the Government, build the locality as well as the province to develop stably and sustainably in the new period.
