On the morning of May 28th, students in Khanh Hoa began the first day of the 2026-2027 high school entrance exam for 10th grade with the Literature exam, which was in essay format and lasted 120 minutes. The weather this morning was favorable, quite cool, creating a relaxed atmosphere for the candidates.
Outside the examination area, police officers were stationed to regulate traffic and ensure smooth flow during peak hours. Youth union members from various communes and wards participated in the "Supporting the Exam Season" program, encouraging candidates and distributing free drinking water to them.

At the exam center at Le Quy Don Specialized High School (Nam Nha Trang ward, Khanh Hoa province), many parents brought their children to school very early, taking the opportunity to give them advice and encouragement before they entered the exam room.
While the students were taking the exam, hundreds of parents waited for their children outside the school gates. Ms. Phuong Linh (from Nam Nha Trang ward) said she brought her child early to avoid any incidents that might affect the exam. She also expressed her relief that the weather was cooler this morning compared to previous days, making the wait less tiring.

Also arriving early, Ms. Le Hien waited while simultaneously doing some work outside the school gate. She explained that her child was taking the specialized literature exam at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, and because their home was far away, she stayed to wait, also as a chance to support her child during this important exam.

Many families from distant areas are also proactively looking for accommodation to make it easier to care for their children. Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy (from Bac Nha Trang ward), whose child is taking the entrance exam at Le Quy Don Specialized High School, said she has rented a room near the school for the past few days to reduce travel time in the hot weather. Ms. Thuy also couldn't hide her anxiety as this year's number of candidates registering for the specialized high school entrance exam is considered the highest in many years. Despite this, she shared that the students' spirits before entering the exam room were quite relaxed.

Regarding the candidates, Binh An ( Thai Nguyen Secondary School, Nha Trang Ward) said that she and her classmates had prepared thoroughly, only reviewing lightly before the exam, eating properly, and going to bed early to ensure they were in the best health to enter the exam room. Meanwhile, Phuong Linh (Au Co Secondary School, Nha Trang Ward) shared that she had received thorough review sessions from her teachers, so she felt very relaxed entering the exam.
It is known that Le Quy Don Specialized High School in Nam Nha Trang ward attracted 1,049 students registering for 280 places/8 classes. Of these, English had the highest number of applicants with 322 students for 2 specialized classes, followed by Literature with 188 students, Mathematics with 183 students, Chemistry with 108 students, Physics with 94 students, Biology with 88 students, and Informatics with 66 students.

According to the Khanh Hoa Department of Education and Training, on the morning of the first day of the 2026-2027 high school entrance exam, the province recorded 164 absent candidates. On the afternoon of May 28th, candidates continued with the mathematics exam, which combined multiple-choice and essay questions. The English exam was held on the morning of May 29th. Candidates applying to specialized classes will take their specialized subject exam on the afternoon of May 29th in essay format; the specialized computer science exam will be a programming test conducted directly on a computer.
