Sowing the seeds of innovation from large fields, producing organic rice
In recent years, Phu Minh village (Ky Anh commune) has been mentioned as one of the leading localities and achieved high results in implementing land accumulation, land consolidation, organic rice production, creating a turning point in agricultural production development.
Mr. Hoang Minh Luyen - Secretary of Phu Minh village Party Cell shared: “From the spring crop of 2022, we started to implement land consolidation and plot consolidation. However, this process also encountered many difficulties because people were afraid to change their production habits and were worried about whether they would receive good plots of land after the conversion... However, with high determination, great efforts and many creative ways, we have gradually created trust, consensus and high support from the people. The conversion was carried out thoroughly and systematically with the goal of minimizing the number of plots, ensuring that each household or households only produce on a single plot of land”.
With a total of 65 hectares and 1,687 initial plots, after completing the conversion, the entire Phu Minh village only has 116 plots left (a reduction of 1,571 plots). Not only is the number of plots minimized, but the internal traffic and irrigation systems are also planned and synchronously arranged, ensuring convenience in mechanized operation, transportation of production materials and products, and proactive irrigation; helping to reduce costs, improve productivity and product quality.
From this foundation, Phu Minh village has boldly converted 15 hectares of agricultural land to organic production, building the brand "Phu Minh Organic Rice" which is well received by the market inside and outside the province. Along with that, the village has deployed the rice - fish - lotus model on an area of 3 hectares and is gradually affirming its effectiveness. With a modern infrastructure system and the application of new techniques in production, the rice yield of Phu Minh village in recent years has reached an average of 6 tons/ha.
Mr. Nguyen Tien The - a resident of Phu Minh village excitedly shared: "Since the land conversion, the production conditions of the people of Phu Minh village have completely changed. Previously, each household owned many scattered fields, machinery was not available, production was difficult but productivity was not high. Now we have large fields, and organic production has resulted in high output, good prices, and rice has really brought in a good income for the people."
Unanimously build model residential areas and smart villages
In 2020, Phu Minh village was recognized as meeting the standards of a model new-style rural residential area. In 2023, the village was selected by Ky Phu commune (old) to pilot the construction of a smart village. With a solid foundation of a model new-style rural residential area, especially with the people's awareness constantly being raised, the construction of Phu Minh's smart village is quite favorable.
Immediately after launching the new emulation movement, the village mobilized nearly 500 million VND from contributions from the people. Along with other socialized sources, the village has comprehensively upgraded the cultural house, built a community library, equipped it with computers, wifi system, smart loudspeakers, security surveillance cameras, installed QR codes on roads and production areas...
One of the items that quickly became effective in the process of building a smart village in Phu Minh is the smart public address system. This system has completely replaced the traditional communication method. The village chief can easily make announcements via phone; administrative documents are automatically converted and read by the system using AI-integrated voice, ensuring speed, accuracy and friendliness to the listener.
Mr. Hoang Xuan Canh - Head of Phu Minh village shared: "In the past, whenever there was work, I had to run to the cultural house, ring the gong, and use the loudspeaker. Now, all I need is a smartphone with an Internet connection and I can manage the village's work. People access information faster, and implementation is more effective. We increasingly see the significance of digital transformation in rural life."
Along with that, installing dozens of surveillance cameras and QR codes in organic production areas has also helped people control product quality and farming processes, while increasing transparency and traceability when bringing products to market. The implementation of digitalization in information access, payment applications, medical services, digital education , etc. also helps people access information quickly, conduct online transactions easily, use public services effectively and improve the quality of life.
Ms. Hoang Thi Nhuan (a resident of Phu Minh village) expressed: "Since the construction of the smart village, many utilities serving people's lives have been deployed. From security and order being ensured thanks to surveillance cameras, convenient shopping, production applying mechanization, science and technology...".
Ms. Duong Thi Van Anh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Ky Anh commune affirmed: "Phu Minh is a pioneer in innovation and creativity, and has been recognized as a smart village. This is the result of the solidarity and determination of the entire political system and people in applying digital technology to management, economic development, building cultural life and maintaining security and order. This result not only affirms the pioneering role of Phu Minh but also motivates and encourages other villages in the commune to make efforts, contributing to the development of Ky Anh commune."
