Thuong Tin Commune was formed from 8 old communes and towns with an area of over 28km² and nearly 71,000 people - famous for its long-standing farming tradition and diverse craft village system.
Vice Chairman of Thuong Tin Commune People's Committee Nguyen Van Tan said that the commune currently has many models of high-tech agriculture, urban agriculture, and production according to the chain of linkages that have been formed. Typical examples include the "river-in-pond" fish model in Tien Phong, specialized high-quality rice areas in Hoa Binh , Van Binh, Khanh Ha, Hien Giang or safe vegetable areas in Van Phu - where gourd and squash products have met the 3-star OCOP standard and are widely consumed in and outside the city.
“Thuong Tin not only focuses on productivity, but also on quality, traceability and sustainability. The orientation of the new term is to close the chain from production - preliminary processing - processing - consumption, linking agriculture with industry, trade and craft village tourism to increase value”, Vice Chairman of Thuong Tin Commune People’s Committee Nguyen Van Tan emphasized.
To promote agricultural production, in recent years, irrigation infrastructure, intra-field traffic and storage facilities have been invested synchronously, creating favorable conditions for farmers to change the structure of crops and livestock. Dozens of large-scale concentrated livestock models in Hoa Binh and Khanh Ha have been deployed...
On that basis, many farmers and cooperatives have boldly applied VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards, invested in temperature and humidity sensor systems in greenhouses, and used production management software and electronic records. Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, owner of a safe vegetable model in Hien Giang, shared: "Thanks to the application of standard processes, vegetable productivity is stable, products are purchased directly by supermarkets, and the selling price is 20-25% higher than traditional production."
Along with farmers, the commune government also plays a key role in leading and linking the chain. Agricultural extension programs, technical training, digital transformation in agriculture, and preferential loan support policies, granting growing area codes, and electronic traceability stamps have been widely implemented. Thanks to that, Thuong Tin has initially formed a safe agricultural product chain network at the commune level - connecting producers, cooperatives, businesses and consumer markets, aiming to standardize the entire process.
If in previous years, Thuong Tin agricultural products were mainly consumed seasonally, now, thanks to the chain linkage model, the products have a clearer and more stable "address". The Hoa Binh, Van Binh or Van Phu agricultural service cooperatives have signed supply contracts with supermarkets, collective kitchens and restaurants in the city.
Vice Chairman of Thuong Tin Commune People's Committee Nguyen Van Tan affirmed that the locality will prioritize the development of a safe agricultural product chain using digital technology, considering this a breakthrough in developing a model new rural agriculture. Each production area will have an electronic identification code; the entire process - from cultivation, harvesting, preliminary processing to transportation - will be digitized. When consumers scan the code, they will know the origin, planting time, and inspection process. This policy is also associated with the goal of building Thuong Tin into an ecological urban agricultural center - service - craft village in the South of the Capital, in accordance with the Law on the Capital (amended) and the city's development plan to 2030, with a vision to 2050. The development of a safe agricultural product chain is not only an economic direction, but also an important contribution to building a model new rural area, protecting the environment and public health.
Currently, the rate of agricultural waste collected and treated is over 98%; models of waste classification at source and use of organic microbial fertilizers are widely replicated. Cooperatives are linked with enterprises processing agricultural by-products, both reducing pollution and creating additional revenue.
Not stopping at production, Thuong Tin also aims to form a clean agricultural products trading center, connecting online with the city's e-commerce platform, opening a new direction for local products. Along with the cold storage system, standard processing area and logistics route being invested, Thuong Tin agricultural product chain promises to become a model of green - digital - safe agricultural development, contributing to enhancing the position of Hanoi agricultural products in the market.
