Practical training session

On the evening of the first week of January, more than 150 people gathered at Quoc Tuan - Dong Dua residential area (Nha Trang ward) to participate in a multi-force coordinated fire fighting and rescue drill. When the fire alarm sounded, residents shouted, used fire extinguishers and makeshift tools to put out the fire, and called the professional fire department. The head of the residential area directly organized and mobilized local forces, guiding rescue and firefighting efforts. The ward People's Committee deployed police, medical personnel, local security forces, militia, and other organizations to the scene to provide support. Professional firefighters also quickly arrived, coordinating with the local authorities to extinguish the fire, prevent its spread, and rescue those trapped. Each stage of the drill was guided by police officers via loudspeaker, including: fire alarm, power cut, evacuation, deployment of initial fire fighting equipment, and moving property.

Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Huong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch and Head of the Quoc Tuan - Dong Dua residential group, said: “When I announced that the ward would be conducting fire prevention and control drills in the neighborhood, the residents responded very positively and actively carried out the assigned tasks. Compared to oral or written communication, on-site drills are more practical and help people easily visualize the firefighting process. Organizing it in the evening also achieves higher awareness-raising effectiveness because most people are at home.”

Focus on implementing various solutions.

According to information from the ward police, in addition to organizing drills, the ward also organized a firefighting skills competition for members of the ward's security and order protection team; strengthened and maintained the effective operation of 225 fire safety neighborhood groups and 75 public fire fighting models. The ward also implemented commitments to ensure fire safety, rescue, and relief for 30,000 households, businesses, and residential buildings combined with production and business activities; and established inspection teams to check fire safety, rescue, and relief conditions for establishments under its management...

Mr. Le Tien Vinh, Vice Chairman of the Ward People's Committee, stated that Nha Trang has a rapid economic development and urbanization rate, a high population density, and a concentration of accommodation, tourism services, and businesses, thus posing a significant risk of fire and explosions. In 2025, four fires occurred in the ward, causing property damage. Therefore, the ward needs to be prepared to effectively implement the "four on-the-spot" principle in fire prevention and control, and regularly conduct fire prevention, rescue, and relief drills. The plan implemented in Quoc Tuan - Dong Dua residential area is the first fire prevention, rescue, and relief drill at the residential area level. Later, the ward will expand the drills to other residential areas to provide visual awareness, helping residents grasp basic knowledge about fire prevention, rescue, and relief, and proactively prevent and combat fires and explosions, especially during Tet (Lunar New Year).

To ensure the safety of people and property, especially during the Lunar New Year of 2026, the ward has issued a plan for intensive inspections of fire safety, rescue, and relief operations at establishments under its management, determined to put an end to the situation where businesses and residential buildings combined with production and business activities do not meet fire safety requirements but are still operating; striving for 100% of establishments under the ward's fire safety management to have management and monitoring records established. The ward is also reviewing traffic and water sources for firefighting, rescue, and relief. "In the coming time, the ward will coordinate with Khanh Hoa Water Supply and Drainage Joint Stock Company to discuss solutions for constructing fire hydrants and water tanks in residential areas with high fire and explosion risks or narrow alleys longer than 50m where fire trucks cannot enter," said Mr. Le Tien Vinh.
