Mr. Pham Van Thang - Head of Tourism Department, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien - said today that since Tet, the number of visitors to Dien Bien has been very large, and accommodation facilities in the area are almost always full. He said that accommodation facilities are overloaded during the period of celebrating the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024).
Therefore, the People's Committee of Dien Bien Phu city and the People's Committee of Dien Bien district have directed the mobilization of 102 households to provide temporary accommodation services to serve the organization of National Tourism Year - Dien Bien 2024 and the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory.
"May 7 is always crowded, but this year there are many events, welcoming a large number of delegates and tourists, so we need new accommodation facilities," he said. Dien Bien province currently has 205 tourist accommodation facilities, nearly 2,800 rooms with about 5,100 beds.
He said that houses built in the city center have an abundant number of rooms but are not fully utilized. In the areas near the center, the number of stilt houses of the Thai ethnic group is also large, ensuring all basic conditions and good sanitation.
After a period of mobilizing and checking the necessary conditions, a total of 22 households provided stilt houses that met the accommodation requirements, each with a capacity of 15-60 people. The number of houses that met the requirements was 80, with a minimum capacity of 4 people and a maximum of 50 people. The establishments listed prices according to the quality of service, from 80,000 VND to 150,000 VND per guest.
Ms. Ca Thi Duong, the owner of a stilt house in Pa Pe village, said that before being encouraged to participate, her family had left the stilt house almost empty. Due to lack of experience in serving guests, she and other participating households were supported by the local authorities with training, from spreading sheets, folding blankets to fire prevention and fighting. From April 19, her stilt house will welcome the first tourists and promises to increase sharply in the run-up to the anniversary.
In addition to providing more rooms to serve accommodation needs, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dien Bien hopes that households participating in serving guests will contribute to building and spreading the image of friendly and hospitable people.
