Actor Quach Ngoc Ngoan said that at the age of nearly 40, he is a failed man who is in debt and cannot fulfill his role as a father.
For the first time, Quach Ngoc Ngoan shared about his life after more than a year of declaring bankruptcy.
- How was your life last year?
- I have a very difficult life because I have not been able to pay off my debt. There are things that happen in life that I cannot handle. After the pandemic, the economic difficulties caused my business to have problems and losses. I struggled to make ends meet but could not hold on and had to fall into debt.
I know that "money goes with the gut" so I hope the creditors will sympathize and help me have the opportunity to work and earn money to pay off the debt. I promise to try to pay everyone back in full.

- As a famous person, falling into this situation, how do you feel?
- I hesitated and thought for a week before announcing my bankruptcy because I am a public figure. For me, this was the hardest decision of my life. I told myself to put aside my pride, inferiority complex, shame, and the gossip and criticism of people when I went out. If I did not dare to face that truth, it would be difficult for me to recover.
I am a failed man. My life is no longer the same as before, I have lost the freedom to roam around or gather with a few friends to talk about work and life. In terms of family, I have not fulfilled my responsibility as a father to my two children - Ca Phao, 12 years old, Sumi, over four years old. I feel guilty towards my relatives, the audience and my two children for making them sad. Up to now, I have limited talking about my children because I know I am not a good father. In terms of emotions, I can no longer love anyone. My current situation does not allow me to let anyone be by my side because I can only make them suffer.
- Where does your main income come from now?
- I don't mind doing odd jobs or manual labor to make a living. Before I was famous, as a student at the University of Theatre and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City, I worked as a waitress at a coffee shop. For me, any job is fine as long as it is not illegal, against my conscience or embarrassing to my children. I still work, enough to cover my daily expenses.
After bankruptcy, I did not learn any lessons for myself. I only knew that I needed to calculate, even consult documents, people with experience in business, to help me have a good direction, limit the risks that indirectly cause a bad outcome.

- How do you receive help from family and friends?
- My parents and friends gave me words of encouragement to give me more energy. However, some people who used to be close to me became strangers. I felt a little sad but not too sad. Before, I was a lonely person in life and work but I never thought negatively when facing difficulties.
Over the past year, the way I overcame the incident was to invest in my health. Whenever I was most stressed, I went to the gym to get in the best physical and mental shape. In addition, looking at my two young children and elderly parents, I had more motivation to try.

- What are your plans for returning to artistic activities?
- Cinema and music are always burning inside me. It's been a long time since I've performed or sung, so when I see my colleagues perform or have projects, I can't help but feel sad. No matter how strong I am, I still feel lonely in my silence. I know that producers and organizations will be hesitant to invite me to their projects. However, I still hope to have a new role, to return to the arts as an apology to my family and audience.
