Russian troops north of Pokrovsk face their most dangerous moment

The situation in the northern Pokrovsk region is developing unfavorably for the Russian army, as Ukraine has deployed all its reserve forces there.

The battle situation on the Pokrovsk front is extremely fierce, as both sides have sent large reserve forces here; both the Russian and Ukrainian armies are fighting a tug of war, with some winning and some losing. Currently, the Russian army on the northern front of Pokrovsk may have to face a difficult battle.

According to the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) and the Military Chronicle, on September 23, Ukrainian special forces penetrated the center of the village of Novotoretske, ambushed a Russian infantry unit, and advanced south of the village, causing the entire village to lose control. This left the Russian forces in the far north almost surrounded, with only two to three kilometers of contact with the rear lines, putting them in a precarious position.

As for how the Ukrainian troops broke into the village of Novotoretske, there are currently two hypotheses: one is that the Ukrainian troops started from the south of Nykanorovka, followed the previous route of attack to capture the village of Boikivka, then crossed the Torets River, attacked from the south of the village and finally entered the center.
4.jpg
However, this news said that the Ukrainian army only controlled the south of the village; another theory is that the Ukrainian army (AFU) broke through directly from Volodymyrivka, advanced south of the village and also controlled most of the village.

More importantly, the Ukrainians recaptured more than half of the nearby village of Pankivka, and opened a bridge connecting Pankivka and Volodymyrivka. This bridge allowed Ukrainian forces on both the east and west banks of the Torets River to support each other, significantly increasing their mobility.

Whatever the reason, the risk of the Russian Armed Forces (RFAF) being encircled on the northern front remains. However, even if encircled, it would be difficult to completely destroy the Russian forces. After all, the Russians still have the advantage in numbers and especially in firepower, especially in the air force.

The situation with the Russian advance at Dobropolye is getting worse, it seems they are being surrounded by Ukrainian troops, the Military Summary channel reported. Geo-located images from this hot spot confirm that the RFAF is indeed in a critical situation.

Looking at other parts of Pokrovsk, NASA’s fire heat map shows that the main fighting is concentrated in the Razurny, Shakhtyorsky and Solnechnyy districts, as well as in the northwest. The architecture of these southeastern districts is very similar to Bakhmut, with densely packed semicircular houses.
9.jpg
This structure is particularly suitable for AFU defense, making it particularly difficult to fight an offensive. Most of Razurny and Shakhtyorsky are now under Russian control, and Russian forces intend to advance from there north towards the M30 highway.
10.jpg
Meanwhile, northwest of Pokrovsk, the RFAF had begun attacking the city's industrial area. Perhaps, after their failures on the northern front, they were trying to open a route to the village of Grichino in the northwest. This route would cut off the AFU's logistics and completely encircle Pokrovsk.
11.jpg
Understanding the RFAF's intentions, the AFU was mobilizing its reserve forces towards the industrial zone. Fighting in the industrial zone was sure to be fierce, making it the most fiercely contested area on this front. If the AFU failed to hold the area, the fate of Pokrovsk was sealed.

In the area of the town of Rodinske north of Pokrovsk, according to the Readovka channel, Russian troops have completely isolated the Ukrainian garrison in this town from contact with the main forces of the AFU in Pokrovsk and Mirnograd.
13.jpg
Readovka said that the fighting for the Pokrovsk-Mirnograd area is becoming increasingly fierce, as the Russians continue to increase pressure on the enemy not only in Pokrovsk but also in other major defense positions. Despite the fierce counterattack of the Ukrainian troops not far away, the RFAF 51st Army has completed the encirclement of the AFU group stationed in Rodynske.
14.jpg
According to preliminary estimates, up to two AFU infantry battalions (up to 1,000 men) are trapped in this town. There is no precise information about their weapons and equipment. However, despite being completely cut off from the main force, the AFU garrison in Rodynske will not surrender.

Like in Pokrovsk and Mirnograd, the Ukrainians in Rodinske may have had ammunition and food reserves in the basements. This allowed them to fight independently for a relatively long time, although it would be difficult to organize breakthrough operations to link up with outside forces; but still enough to fight to hold off the Russians there.
