According to the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense, on November 7th, military units mobilized 553 personnel (Military Region 5: 156 soldiers, 290 militia, 48 other forces; Air Defense - Air Force Command: 59 soldiers); and 247 military vehicles of various types (Military Region 5: 236 vehicles including 25 cars, 209 motorcycles, 2 drones; Air Defense - Air Force Command: 9 vehicles, including 1 Mi-17 helicopter, 8 cars; Viettel Military Telecommunications Technology Group: 2 drones) to search for the YAK-130 training aircraft that crashed after the two pilots ejected.

The search operation was deployed by authorities across two provinces, Gia Lai and Dak Lak . Specifically, the search force in Gia Lai province consisted of 165 people (139 from Military Region 5, 26 from the Air Defense - Air Force Command) and 28 vehicles (25 vehicles from Military Region 5, 3 from the Air Defense - Air Force Command); in Dak Lak province, there were 388 people and 219 vehicles (Military Region 5: 209 motorbikes, 2 flycams; Air Defense - Air Force Command: 1 aircraft, 5 cars; Viettel: 2 flycams).
According to the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense, as of the end of November 7th, authorities have still not located the plane crash site.
As Thanh Nien newspaper previously reported, at 11:00 AM on November 6th, a military aircraft crashed in Tay Son District (Binh Dinh Province). The crashed aircraft was a YAK-130, serial number 2101, carrying two pilots from the 940th Regiment, Air Force Officer School, stationed in Binh Dinh.
According to authorities, at 10:51 AM on the same day, the two pilots parachuted out of the YAK-130 training aircraft that had experienced a malfunction in an area identified as Tay Xuan commune, Tay Son district. Immediately after the incident, authorities organized a search for the two pilots and located the crash site of the YAK-130 aircraft.
At approximately 7:56 PM on the same day, rescue forces located the pilot, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Quan, in a mountainous area in Tay Phu commune (Tay Son district). Two hours later, rescue forces rescued Colonel Nguyen Van Son.
On November 7th, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, sent a letter to the officers and soldiers of the 940th Air Regiment's training flight on November 6th, the unit that recently experienced a YAK-130 training aircraft crash in Binh Dinh.
In the letter, Minister Phan Van Giang noted: "In a very brief moment, the plane was at a low altitude, falling very quickly, endangering lives, but the pilots calmly and bravely steered the plane away from densely populated areas and parachuted to safety, causing no damage."
General Phan Van Giang sent his praise and commendation to the Air Defense - Air Force Command, the Air Force Officer School, Regiment 940, and the officers, staff, and soldiers in the training flight on November 6th.
In particular, the Minister of National Defense commended Colonel Nguyen Van Son and Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Quan for their high level of training experience, courage, and strong determination, demonstrating calmness, confidence, and a willingness to sacrifice, correctly identifying opportunities and promptly handling unforeseen situations in the air.
