Local cooperation is a bright spot in Vietnam-Japan relations

Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung hopes that Japanese localities, including Gunma province, will accompany Vietnam in the new development period, with new cooperation contents.

On November 25, in Quang Ninh province, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung received Mr. Yamamoto Ichita, Governor of Gunma province, Japan, on the occasion of attending the Vietnam-Japan Local Cooperation Forum chaired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with Quang Ninh province and the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, organized from November 24-25.

Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung warmly welcomed and appreciated Governor Yamamoto Ichita for arranging his time to come to Vietnam to attend the Vietnam-Japan Local Cooperation Forum, which was held for the first time in Vietnam under the agreement of the two countries' senior leaders.

Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung highly appreciated the cooperation between Gunma prefecture and Vietnam through many activities promoting people-to-people exchange, education and training, labor reception, business connection and investment promotion; thanked Governor Yamamoto and the Gunma prefectural government for always caring for and supporting the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in the prefecture.

At the meeting, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung thanked the Japanese Government and localities for their support in Vietnam's development, especially during the period when Vietnam implemented its innovation policy.

Assessing the Vietnam-Japan local cooperation relationship as very effective and a bright spot in the bilateral relationship, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung hopes that Japanese localities, including Gunma province, will accompany Vietnam in the new development stage, with new, substantive and effective cooperation contents such as high-tech, sustainable agriculture and industry, training high-quality human resources..., while expanding to new fields such as rare earth, artificial intelligence (AI), quantum science..., and fields in which Vietnamese localities can support Gunma province and Japanese localities.

Governor Yamamoto Ichita thanked Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung for taking the time to meet him and expressed his honor to attend the Vietnam-Japan Local Cooperation Forum this time. He said that every year, the province organizes a business delegation to Vietnam to seek cooperation and investment opportunities; many businesses of Gunma province have been interested in expanding investment in Vietnam, especially in the fields of equipment manufacturing, supporting industries, high-tech agriculture and tourism.

Gunma Prefecture wishes to promote a model of substantive cooperation between businesses and localities to train high-quality human resources to serve both Vietnam and Japan.

The Governor affirmed that Gunma will continue to implement programs to support the Vietnamese community living and working in the province, considering this an important bridge for friendly cooperation between the two countries.

Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung affirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to accompany Gunma province and Vietnamese localities to develop cooperation between Vietnam and Gunma province in particular and Japanese localities in general more practically and effectively in the coming time./.
