Adolescence, from ages 10 to 18, marks a period of rapid physical, psychological, and cognitive development. In the context of modern society, young people have abundant access to knowledge, technology, and diverse information. However, many still lack knowledge about healthcare, self-protection skills, or are easily influenced by unverified information online. Academic pressure, prolonged electronic device use, unhealthy lifestyles, late nights, and lack of exercise significantly impact the development of this age group.

Faced with these potential risks, the Provincial Center for Disease Control (CDC Quang Ninh ) has intensified the implementation of various activities to care for adolescent health, coordinating with schools and localities to organize health education and communication, school psychological counseling, and dissemination of information on reproductive health, nutrition, and self-protection skills for young people.
This May, the Quang Ninh CDC organized communication activities on adolescent reproductive health at schools such as Co To High School (Co To Special Zone), Dong Thanh High School (Dong Mai Ward), Tien An Primary and Secondary School (Quang Yen Ward)... attracting considerable attention from teachers and students.
To ensure highly effective communication sessions, the staff, doctors, and nurses of the Quang Ninh CDC not only conveyed knowledge through presentations but also incorporated many interactive activities such as Q&A, situation handling, knowledge games, and direct exchanges with students. Many questions related to bodily changes during puberty, psychological pressure, friendships with the opposite sex, or the risk of abuse were answered thoroughly, scientifically , and appropriately for the age group.

Dr. Le Thi Lien, from the Reproductive Health Department (CDC Quang Ninh), stated: "Adolescents experience many psychological and physiological changes, while many lack the necessary knowledge and skills to care for and protect themselves. Therefore, during communication, we always focus on innovating content and approaches to be relatable, easy to understand, and create an open environment so that students confidently discuss issues they are concerned about. When equipped with sufficient reproductive health knowledge, they will be more proactive in taking care of themselves, limiting unwanted risks and consequences."
It is evident that, along with communication activities, school health services are becoming one of the important solutions contributing to comprehensive health care for young people. In 2026, the entire province will continue to maintain the effectiveness of school health services, with 100% of schools in the area having established Student Health Care Committees, organized regular health check-ups, and created health records for students as prescribed. Facilities serving school health services are gradually being improved. To date, 97.8% of schools have separate health rooms; 100% of schools ensure access to drinking water, domestic water, hygienic toilets, and sufficient soap and disinfectant solutions.

In addition to focusing on infrastructure, the Health and Education sectors have collaborated to organize dozens of professional training courses on disease prevention, food safety, mental health care, immunization, first aid skills, etc., for school health staff. Health education and communication activities have also been implemented in diverse ways through extracurricular activities, loudspeakers, social media, and direct consultations. The content of these campaigns focuses on issues relevant to students' age groups, such as disease prevention, injury prevention, physical fitness improvement, and adolescent reproductive health. This contributes to raising awareness and developing self-care skills for students from an early age.
