Along with the people of the whole country, every year when March arrives, various sectors and localities in the province organize many practical activities to commemorate the Hung Kings' homeland. Provincial leaders and a large number of city residents and tourists attend.

With profound reverence, the provincial and city leaders of Dong Hoi, representatives of various departments, organizations, and the people of the city respectfully offered incense to commemorate and express gratitude for the contributions of the Hung Kings and previous generations in building and defending the nation.

According to Le Thi Thu Cuc, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Dong Hoi City Party Committee, after the incense offering ceremony and the commemoration of the National Ancestor Hung Vuong, many vibrant cultural and sports activities took place, including performances of traditional arts, martial arts, folk games, and a photo exhibition titled "Dong Hoi Past and Present." These activities, integrated into the city's annual Culture and Tourism Week, added a highlight and made a lasting impression on visitors from all over; created a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere among the city's residents; contributed to preserving and promoting the beautiful traditional culture of the nation; and further strengthened the bond with the homeland and the nation.

Turning towards the ancestral land, on this occasion, many schools in Dong Hoi City in particular, and throughout the province in general, have organized activities such as seminars, and activities for students to decorate fruit platters, make banh chung and banh day (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes)... aiming to educate them about the nation's historical traditions and the moral principle of "Drinking water, remember the source," and "Eating fruit, remember the person who planted the tree," so that they can be more deeply aware of their personal responsibility to their historical roots, their homeland, and their country; and to engrave in their minds the words of President Ho Chi Minh: "The Hung Kings built the nation, and we, their descendants, must together preserve it."

Turning towards the homeland, strengthening the bonds of kinship among fellow countrymen.

Every year, on the 10th day of the third lunar month, amidst the hustle and bustle of life in foreign lands, the people of Vinh Phu (now the two provinces of Vinh Phuc and Phu Tho) living far from home feel a deep longing for the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day. No matter where they live, they always remember their roots, the sacred ancestral land where the Hung Kings founded the nation. The Vinh Phu Hometown Association in Quang Binh is no exception. Despite being hundreds of kilometers away from their homeland, they still organize meaningful activities to honor their origins. For them, the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day is not just a holiday, but also a bond connecting generations of descendants of Lac Hong with their ancestors and the sacred values of the nation.

Mr. Le Duc Thanh, Deputy Head of the Liaison Committee of the Vinh Phu Hometown Association in Quang Binh, said: "For 29 years since its establishment, the association has gathered nearly 200 members, from young to old, with the aim of meeting, socializing, helping each other develop economically, and encouraging each other during difficult times. And every year, on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month, the association organizes the Ancestor Commemoration Day to offer incense and report to the Hung Kings the achievements made after a year of effort."

“As always, the first meaningful activity we organize is to prepare fruits, incense, and traditional Vietnamese rice cakes (bánh chưng and bánh dày) to offer at the Banyan Tree - Ong Pagoda (Dong Hoi City), where we worship the earth, water, and incense burners, which are relics brought from Hung Temple in 2002. With reverence, we offer incense to the National Ancestor King Hung, and together we recall the traditions and history of nation-building by the Hung Kings, remembering our origins to express gratitude for the merits of our ancestors, the forefathers who contributed to the founding of the nation. We also encourage each other to develop the economy, maintain unity and solidarity, and work together to build a new homeland that is increasingly prosperous, worthy of being children of the Ancestral Land,” shared Mr. Thanh.

After offering incense at the Banyan Tree - Ong Pagoda, people from the North who are living, studying, and working in Quang Binh, a land of hot winds and white sand, gathered to reminisce about their childhood memories, their homeland, and stories of their journeys to establish themselves in Quang Binh. For them, this is a special occasion, an opportunity to strengthen their bonds of camaraderie and preserve the traditional culture of their nation.

Being far from home on the anniversary of Hung Kings' death fills everyone with longing. They always yearn to return, to stand before Hung Temple, silently offer an incense stick, and whisper a prayer. Although each person has their own life and path, on the anniversary of Hung Kings' death, they all share a common reverence, turning their thoughts towards their ancestral land. They not only preserve the tradition of "drinking water, remembering the source" but also contribute to passing it on to future generations, ensuring that the precious values of the nation never fade away.
