Where does Quang Ngai propose to build a high-speed railway station?

On August 22, the Quang Ngai Department of Transport said it had sent a report to the Ministry of Transport on the construction of the route and location of the North-South high-speed railway station.

Quang Ngai province proposed the Ministry of Transport to adjust the high-speed railway station from Quang Phu Industrial Park to the west bordering Nghia Ky commune (Tu Nghia district).

Accordingly, the main station location will be moved to Quang Phu ward, Quang Ngai city and Nghia Ky commune, Tu Nghia district (the area near the intersection of Truong Chinh and Le Duan streets according to the planning).

Previously, the station arrangement plan was agreed between Quang Ngai province and the Ministry of Transport, the North-South high-speed railway station was expected to be built in the west of Quang Phu industrial park.

Deputy Director of Quang Ngai Department of Transport Pham Ngoc Thuy said that the local adjustment and relocation of the station to the location proposed by the province is due to the project to adjust the general planning of Quang Ngai city until 2040 approved by the Provincial People's Committee. If it is kept in the previously agreed location, it will not be suitable for general development.

In particular, the relocation will ensure land for station construction and facilitate urban development according to the TOD model (a model that takes the orientation of public transport system development as the basis for urban development planning).

It is known that in addition to the main station connecting to Quang Ngai City, along the route, Quang Ngai province also proposed to add two station locations in Binh Son district to connect with Dung Quat Economic Zone and Quang Nam - Quang Ngai Expressway (CT.22) and a station in Duc Pho town to connect with the Central Highlands provinces and border gates via the Quang Ngai - Kon Tum Expressway.

Quang Ngai Department of Transport said that the proposal to add two more stations, bringing the total number of North-South high-speed railway stations in the province to three, is because according to the initial design plan, the high-speed railway is expected to have a design speed of 350km/h, only operating passenger trains, so arranging one station in Quang Ngai province is appropriate.

However, according to the direction of the Government and ministries, the orientation is to "invest in a North-South high-speed railway, double track, 1,435mm gauge for passenger and cargo transport, design speed of about 200-250km/h, operating speed of about 200km/h".

The location bordering the end of Quang Phu Industrial Park with Nghia Ky commune, Tu Nghia district was proposed by the Quang Ngai Department of Transport to build a high-speed railway station.

Therefore, the addition of two more stations aims to ensure the circulation of goods for the northern and southern regions of Quang Ngai province, creating momentum for the socio-economic development of the locality, especially Dung Quat Economic Zone, industrial parks and industrial clusters in the south of the province.

According to Deputy Director of Quang Ngai Department of Transport Pham Ngoc Thuy, the adjustment of the station location does not significantly change the route direction. The specific location of the station and the scale of the stations will be determined during the preparation of the feasibility study report.
