The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Ngai province has assigned the provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine to allocate more than 7,600 doses of African swine fever vaccine, more than 19,000 doses of foot-and-mouth disease vaccine; more than 5,000 avian influenza vaccines for localities to vaccinate livestock and poultry and allocate more than 5,000 liters of chemicals to disinfect the livestock environment to prevent and control epidemics.
According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Ngai province, up to now, the epidemic has occurred in livestock facilities in 243 villages in 34 communes and wards in the province. The total number of infected pigs forced to be destroyed is more than 9,600 with a total weight of nearly 580 tons. In the face of the rapid spread, the authorities, in addition to epidemic prevention and control work, have also stepped up vaccination against African swine fever and some other diseases in livestock and poultry.
The swine fever situation not only causes heavy losses to farmers but also puts great pressure on localities in the work of prevention and control. The epidemic is still being closely monitored.
The People's Committee of Quang Ngai province requested localities to strengthen monitoring, handle quickly, prevent new outbreaks and proactively support affected livestock farmers.
