After discovering the fire, authorities and local government quickly implemented measures to control it. However, by the morning of May 25th, due to the intense heat and strong winds, the fire reignited and spread. The fire occurred in an acacia forest between Quang Ninh and Ninh Chau communes in Quang Tri province.

Upon receiving the report, the People's Committee of Ninh Chau commune, the Management Board of Dong Hoi and coastal protection forests of Quang Tri province mobilized more than 300 local people along with police, military , forest rangers, and border guards to participate in extinguishing the fire.

Due to the scorching heat with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, coupled with strong southwest winds, the dense vegetation, especially the dry, sandy ground, inadvertently created a favorable environment for the fire to spread rapidly. Furthermore, the fires occurred in multiple locations, and the water sources for firefighting were far away, making water replenishment time-consuming.

The fire burned the undergrowth and trunks of many acacia trees.

By late afternoon, authorities were still implementing various measures to completely bring the fire under control. The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.
