Few people expect that in the middle of Quang Tri land, which is associated with historical relics, there exists a scene similar to autumn in temperate countries. That is the maple forest in Huong Phung commune, a wild but attractive destination at the end of the year.

The beauty of the changing seasons of the maple forest

Located at km13 of Ho Chi Minh road, in Huong Phung commune, this forest is home to the maple tree, also known as the sau sau tree by the locals. From November to January every year, the whole forest begins a spectacular transformation. The green foliage gradually turns to shades of yellow, orange, and then crimson, creating a brilliant natural picture.

According to Mr. Vo Tat Huy, a local resident, this is the most beautiful moment of the year of the forest, attracting many photographers and nature-loving tourists to come and capture rare images in the Central region.

Unique experience: Rowing boat among the trees

The most special feature of Huong Phung mangrove forest is its location right next to a hydroelectric lake. At the end of the year, when the lake water level is at its highest, the water floods the forest, submerging more than half of the tree trunks. This scene turns this place into a unique mangrove forest, unlike any other place.

Visitors can rent a boat or stand-up paddleboard (SUP) to go deep into the forest. The experience of slowly gliding on the calm water, watching the colorful foliage reflected on the lake surface and breathing in the fresh air is an activity not to be missed. The quiet space, with only the gentle splash of the oars and the rustling of the leaves, brings a feeling of absolute peace and relaxation.

Experience exploring the maple forest

Although it is becoming more and more popular, this area is still quite wild and has not yet developed professional tourism services. To have a complete trip, visitors should note the following points:

Ideal timing

The best time to see the trees change color is from November to January. However, this is also the rainy and cold season in Quang Tri. Visitors should follow the weather forecast and choose dry, sunny days to get the best photos and ensure safety.

Necessary Preparation

Since there are no shops or services, you should prepare your own snacks and drinks. Warm, waterproof clothing is a good choice. If you want to go boating, contact local rental services in advance or bring your own equipment.

Important Note

This is a destination for those who love tranquility and natural beauty. Please keep the public clean, do not litter and respect the landscape to protect the wild beauty of the forest.
