"Gánh cải trạng nguyên" (author: Huỳnh Thủ Trung, edited and revised by: Đào Việt Anh - Thanh Tòng) is a humorous cải lương play that the Đại Việt New Stage "broke with tradition" to stage and perform during the 2026 Tet holiday.

Director Hoa Ha breathed new life into the play, delighting the audience and prompting requests for a repeat performance.

Vo Minh Lam, Que Tran, and Tu Suong create a humorous love triangle in the play. Que Tran plays Truong My Chi, the daughter of a fortune teller.

The fortune teller, seeing the potential and kindness in the poor scholar Hoang Phi Hoc (Vo Minh Lam), decided to arrange a marriage between his daughter and him.

Their love journey is quite bumpy with the appearance of several other women. Because of its cheerful and lighthearted tone, both Que Tran and Vo Minh Lam showcase their comedic talents to bring refreshing laughter to the audience.

Besides performing together for two consecutive nights, Quế Trân and Võ Minh Lâm recently joined forces as young judges in the 2026 National Cai Luong Actor Talent Competition in Ho Chi Minh City.

For a whole week, the two artists worked diligently with veteran judges such as Tran Ngoc Giau, Hoang Quynh Mai, and Le Nguyen Dat to discover talents for the national Cai Luong stage.
