The National Assembly passed a Resolution on shortening the term of the 15th National Assembly.

On the morning of May 21, with a total of 449 delegates present, equivalent to 93.93%, the National Assembly voted to approve the Resolution of the National Assembly on shortening the term of the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term and the Election Day of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.

According to Secretary General of the National Assembly Le Quang Tung, on the basis of the provisions of the Constitution and laws, to implement Resolution No. 60-NQ/TW dated April 12, 2025 of the 11th Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee, after careful, thorough, and comprehensive consideration, it was agreed that:

Delegates attending the 9th session of the 15th National Assembly.

Election day for the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term is Sunday, March 15, 2026.

The first session of the 16th National Assembly shall be convened no later than 60 days from the election date.

The first session of the People's Council for the 2026-2031 term shall be convened no later than 45 days from the election date.

The National Assembly Standing Committee, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuracy , the Nationalities Council, the National Assembly Committees, the National Assembly delegations, the National Assembly deputies, the People's Councils, the People's Council deputies, and relevant agencies and organizations, within the scope of their functions and tasks, are responsible for implementing this Resolution.
