Quy Nhon - the city of poetry

VietNamNetVietNamNet05/10/2023

With a 72km long coastline, Quy Nhon also boasts famous coastal attractions that tourists love, such as Cu Lao Xanh, Eo Gió, Ghenh Rang, Hon Kho, Ky Co...

In recent years, Binh Dinh province has promoted and implemented many transportation infrastructure projects, especially road networks, to enhance connectivity to the province's tourist destinations. Quy Nhon City, the provincial capital, benefits from a well-planned urban development, creating a high-quality and efficient inner-city transportation system. Notable among these are three East-West routes: the new National Highway 19, a 18km section from Quy Nhon Port to National Highway 1; the southwestern gateway road to the Becamex VSIP industrial park; and the 18.5km road connecting Phu Cat Airport to the Nhon Hoi Economic Zone.
With a 72km long coastline, Quy Nhon boasts famous coastal attractions beloved by tourists such as Cu Lao Xanh, Eo Gió, Ghenh Rang, Hon Kho, Ky Co, and Hoang Hau Beach... In addition, it offers cultural values deeply rooted in local identity, such as festivals, Cham towers, traditional craft villages, and historical relics of the Tay Son dynasty…
According to statistics from the Binh Dinh Department of Tourism , during the recent Lunar New Year and the April 30th - May 1st holidays, accommodation establishments in Quy Nhon were fully booked, with 3-5 star hotels consistently operating at 90% to 95% occupancy. This figure demonstrates the attractiveness of this central coastal city, promising to make it a top destination for tourists and no longer a forgotten place.
By 2025, Quy Nhon aims to promote sustainable development of its marine economy, developing marine tourism and services into a key economic sector. The specific targets include welcoming over 7.2 million tourists, including 1.8 million international visitors, and achieving tourism revenue exceeding 13,000 billion VND.

THE MAGICAL BEAUTY OF THE NHON HOI SEA BRIDGE

When talking about Quy Nhon, it's impossible not to mention the Nhon Hoi sea bridge, a special highlight among the tourist destinations in the capital of Binh Dinh province. Since its inauguration, the bridge has attracted tourists because it is situated amidst the romantic natural scenery of mountains and sea, with a perpetually ethereal and shimmering landscape that captivates every gaze. The bridge is part of the nearly 7km long Nhon Hoi road system connecting Quy Nhon city with the Phuong Mai peninsula (Nhon Hoi Economic Zone). Besides the name Nhon Hoi Bridge, this bridge is also known as Thi Nai Bridge.
Seen from afar, the long white bridge spanning the blue sea, connecting the mainland on one side and the islands on the other, creates a masterpiece of beauty, standing out amidst the majestic and vast landscape. Especially as the sun sets, thanks to the twilight rays, the bridge becomes shimmering, the last rays of the day reflecting on the sea surface, the light radiating different colors each day, creating a captivating scene.
The entire Nhon Hoi Bridge project began construction in 2002 and was completed in 2006. The main section of the bridge, 2477.3 meters long and 14.5 meters wide, was designed with modern technology, capable of withstanding a large load of up to 80 tons and consisting of 54 spans, each with a span of 120 meters. The Nhon Hoi Bridge boasts a magnificent, impressive, and modern architecture, and was once the longest sea bridge in Vietnam before the Tan Vu - Lach Huyen Bridge ( Hai Phong ) was built. This is a significant project, not only facilitating transportation and economic development, but also a source of pride for the people of Quy Nhon.

WIND FIELDS - A POPULAR CHECK-IN SPOT FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

From the center of Quy Nhon city, after crossing the Thi Nai bridge, turn left onto National Highway 19B, then continue straight towards the Nhon Hoi Economic Zone. Visitors can easily spot wind turbines in the distance, high above, in front and to the right of the road. This is the Phuong Mai wind farm, spanning 122 hectares – a wind power plant with a total investment of 40 million USD, the first of its kind in Binh Dinh province. The facility has been operational since early 2020 and was once one of the largest wind power plants in the country.
The wind turbines here are among the largest in Vietnam, each tower reaching a height of 114 meters and a blade diameter of 132 meters. Since its inauguration, the Quy Nhon wind farm has become an ideal check-in spot for many young people. In the early morning or late afternoon, when the sunlight is soft and gentle, providing just the right amount of light, photographers and many young men and women present here can easily capture stunning pictures.
As the sun sets, the sky dons a captivating pale pink hue. The weak rays of sunlight then filter through the wind turbine blades, creating an alluring sight. Standing here, letting your mind wander in the sea breeze, visitors will find themselves feeling a sense of peace and tranquility.

THE BEAUTY OF HON KHO ISLAND

Hon Kho Island, located in Nhon Hai commune, is nearly 20 km from Quy Nhon city and is one of the near-shore islands of Binh Dinh province. The images were captured in late June, considered the most beautiful time of year for this location, with its crystal-clear blue sea and strong winds.
Hon Kho Island is one of Quy Nhon's ideal coral viewing spots. The water is very clear. On June afternoons, the tide recedes, revealing the seabed. Viewed from above, the seaweed and coral are quite visible, creating beautiful patches of color.
Many corners of Hon Kho Island retain their pristine and rustic charm. Besides its clear blue waters, the island is also surrounded by colorful coral reefs. Snorkeling and coral viewing have long been a popular tourist attraction of this islet.
Because the island is very close to the mainland, transporting tourists from the mainland to Hon Kho Island takes less than 5 minutes by fisherman's boat or speedboat. Prices are negotiable, ranging from 100,000 to 200,000 VND per person depending on the number of guests.
The beauty of Hon Kho Island is further enhanced by the fishing boats of the people from Nhon Hai fishing village. Waking up in the fishing village early in the morning, visitors will feel the unhurried pace of life of the locals. They begin their day with familiar tasks such as rowing basket boats to harvest seaweed, sea cucumbers, catch fish, squid, etc.

KY CO AND EO GIO - FAMOUS DESTINATIONS IN QUY NHON

When visiting Quy Nhon, every tourist must visit Ky Co, an extremely beautiful beach and recreational spot in the "city of poetry". Ky Co is located in Nhon Ly commune, Binh Dinh province (about 23-27km from the center of Quy Nhon city).
The seawater here is a stunning blue, similar to the seawater of many famous islands around the world, such as those in the Indian Ocean and the Maldives. Closer to the shore, the water is turquoise, while further out, the water is a deep blue.
In June, thanks to the beautiful weather, Ky Co beach shines brightly, attracting many tourists who come to relax and enjoy various water sports. Three of these are speedboat rides, banana boat rides, and paragliding...
Along the route to Ky Co, tourists can check in at Eo Gió, located on the Phuong Mai peninsula in Nhon Ly commune (about 20 km from Quy Nhon city). This is a very small strait sheltered by winding, high rocky mountains.
Eo Gió boasts crystal-clear waters. On windy days, the waves crash continuously, creating cool, white foam against the rugged rocks at the foot of the mountain. At the foot of the mountain lies the Đá Đẻ beach, with its uneven paths eroded by the sea over the years. The rocks here come in a variety of sizes and fascinating shapes, creating a masterpiece of rock and water.
Over the years, through the erosion of water and the weathering process of sea winds, nature has created 19 swiftlet caves, which have been given very fitting names such as Ky Co Cave, Ba Nghe Cave, Bat Cave, Health Cave, etc.
The seawater at Eo Gió is so clear that when wading in, visitors can see their feet glistening due to the refraction of light combined with the reflection of sunlight. And of course, while strolling among the rocks, young women have countless opportunities for Instagram-worthy photos.
Come here in the early morning or late afternoon when the sunlight turns a golden hue like honey. Stand high up and gaze towards the distant horizon to feel the beautiful natural atmosphere, or lie back and relax on the large rocks of various sizes.
