On the afternoon of August 18, Vietnam Education Publishing House held a ceremony to introduce the book series "Financial Education", for students from grades 1 to 12.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh - Chairman of the Board of Members, General Director of Vietnam Education Publishing House - said that the book series guides and provides knowledge for students from grades 1 to 12 to appreciate the value of money and know how to manage money intelligently.
"At the same time, the book series is more meaningful when it is published on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, laying the foundation for the aspiration of the nation's rising era" - Mr. Thanh shared and said that the book series is suitable to be included in general schools, taught in the second session program for students.
Ms. Le Thi Thuy Sen, author of the book series, said in the National Comprehensive Financial Strategy to 2025, with a vision to 2030, approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 149 of 2020.
Financial knowledge needs to be taught to high school students, integrated with subjects and levels in the curriculum to enhance understanding and develop financial capacity and thinking for the young generation.

The book series is a necessary learning material, helping to equip students with knowledge, skills and financial understanding, contributing to giving students a better and more responsible life.
The book uses familiar folk songs, proverbs, idioms, short stories, everyday stories, and old stories to convey financial knowledge that is close to students.
Ms. Thuy Sen believes that financial education is not only about knowledge about money, saving or investing, but also a journey to sow seeds of humanity, forming habits, behaviors and good virtues.
Many developed countries have popularized financial education for students and consider it an essential skill. For Vietnam - a developing country, deeply integrated and promoting digital transformation - this is even more necessary and urgent.
“ Science and technology bring many benefits but also bring financial risks if the community lacks knowledge. In fact, technology crimes and online fraud are complicated globally. People need to raise their awareness and financial skills to protect themselves,” Ms. Thuy Sen commented, warning that not equipping children with knowledge early can cause them to spend without control and not know how to save.
More seriously, children and adolescents are also vulnerable to sophisticated financial scams on digital platforms.
The book series is like "popular education" about finance.
Evaluating the book series, Dr. Le Xuan Nghia, member of the National Monetary Policy Advisory Council, commented that this is a form of common knowledge about money for the people.
Lawyer Truong Thanh Duc said that the book series is like a "popular education" on finance, thanks to the way knowledge is conveyed through folk songs, proverbs, and family stories that are very gentle, close, and attractive.
“In my opinion, the financial knowledge in the book is both practical and easy to understand. It is not only a lesson about money but also helps students improve their life skills.
Many students will remember these stories forever. The book series also shows a very humane way of dealing with money, helping students understand that earning money is difficult and from there learn to appreciate the value of money," Mr. Duc emphasized.
Ms. Le Thi Thuy Sen is also the author of the book "Be Smart with Money - Avoid Worry" (Kim Dong Publishing House, 2023). This book has currently published more than 35,000 copies, and is one of the most prominent personal finance skills education publications in Vietnam.
