The book “ The Communist Party of Vietnam through Congresses - Historical Decisions” edited by Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Trong Lam, is structured according to each Congress, going from events and documents to specific historical contexts, helping readers understand why each Party decision was born, and why it became an important turning point. From there, readers can see the development logic of the Party, a political organization that constantly renews itself to adapt to the strict requirements of history, revolutionary practice and the people's hearts.
In more than 400 pages of the book, the decisions at the Congresses are not only listed chronologically, but also placed in a broad historical and political context, linked to domestic and international fluctuations. The connection between circumstances and actions highlights the Party's proactive, sensitive, and creative spirit in each period. From the First Congress in 1935, which affirmed the Party's maturity after years of secret operations, to the Second Congress in 1951 - the Party openly operated under the name of the Vietnam Workers' Party in the Viet Bac resistance base, and especially the Third Congress in 1960 - the Congress that opened the period of building socialism in the North and fighting to liberate the South and unify the country, all are presented concisely, vividly, with a lot of valuable information.
In particular, from the 6th Congress (1986) - the Congress that initiated the Doi Moi process onwards, the book really showed a strong change in the Party's governing thinking. Following that spirit, the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th Congresses all marked the process of continuing innovation while maintaining the socialist orientation, while expanding international integration, attracting investment and developing education , health care, science and technology. At the 12th Congress (2016), one of the highlights highlighted by the book was the first time placing the content of Party building on ethics on par with the content of politics, ideology and organization.
At the 13th National Congress (2021), the book not only highlighted achievements, but also reflected the remarkable maturity in the Party's strategic thinking. With the aspiration to turn Vietnam into a developed, high-income country by 2045, the Congress proposed many breakthrough orientations, from digital transformation, innovation of growth models, sustainable development to building a rule-of-law state and a streamlined, effective political system. These contents show that the Party is constantly renewing itself, both maintaining its revolutionary nature and innovating its leadership methods in line with modern realities.
The book also particularly emphasizes the role of personnel work, power control, and anti-corruption as the core contents in political reform. Evidence from Resolution 4 of the Central Committee (term XI, XII), to meetings of the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption chaired by the General Secretary are presented as evidence of the strong political determination in building a clean and strong Party.
Not only a research document, “The Communist Party of Vietnam through Congresses - Historic Decisions” is also an inspirational book about the Party's spirit of constant innovation. Readers not only see the country's development journey, but also clearly feel the process of maturity in thinking, mettle and leadership capacity of a revolutionary political party.
