With his current form, Rashford is proving his worth at Aston Villa. |
Marcus Rashford is currently on loan at Aston Villa from Manchester United. With his goal against Manchester City in the 34th round of the Premier League on the morning of April 23rd, the England striker is attracting attention regarding his future.
According to sources from Sport , if Aston Villa hesitate to activate the £40 million release clause this summer, Rashford will negotiate a move to Barcelona instead of returning to Manchester United. Rashford joined Aston Villa in January after being dropped from the Manchester United squad by manager Ruben Amorim for his attitude in training.
At Villa Park, the 27-year-old quickly rediscovered his form, scoring 5 goals and providing 6 assists in 17 appearances across all competitions. Although the loan deal runs until the end of the season, Aston Villa have the option to buy Rashford permanently for £40 million, and are currently paying at least 75% of his £315,000-a-week salary.
The problem for Villa is that they haven't been able to finalize Rashford's future before the end of this season. If Villa fail to qualify for the Champions League next season, they won't have the financial means to sign Rashford. Meanwhile, the English striker wants his future resolved soon.
Before joining Aston Villa, Barcelona had expressed interest in Rashford. The Catalan club is looking for a new striker this summer. Rashford is considered a good fit for coach Hansi Flick's system, capable of playing in all three attacking positions.
