This year, thanks to the good harvest and good price of agar, traders buy it right on the spot, so people are very excited.
Ms. Bui Thi Hien in An Hiep commune (Tuy An district, Phu Yen province) said: Agar in O Loan lagoon appears from January until early summer.
On average, each day, a person can collect about 200kg of fresh agar, after drying in the sun for 2 days, they can collect 50kg of dried agar, bringing in an income of about 250,000 VND/day.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tuy An district (Phu Yen province), the selling price of agar is only 5,000 VND/kg, but thanks to the large output of agar, each person participating in collecting and drying agar can earn 4-5 million VND/month, a significant income to cover their living expenses.
