Real Madrid cannot clear Huijsen's suspension.

According to AS , Real Madrid presented their arguments to the Spanish Football Federation's Appeal Committee, but these arguments were not convincing enough. This made the team decide to take the case to the Spanish Administrative Sports Court (TAD).

However, TAD rejected Real Madrid's appeal, meaning Huijsen will serve a one-match suspension for the match against Espanyol on September 21. Huijsen later expressed his dissatisfaction on social media: "The mistake has been admitted, but I am still suspended. What a beautiful image for Spanish football."

This incident has caused great controversy in recent times, especially when the La Liga Referee Committee admitted that the correct decision should have been a yellow card for Huijsen instead of a red card.

However, the La Liga Referee Committee noted that the VAR team was right not to intervene, as the situation was in a “grey area” and depended on the referee’s interpretation. Therefore, Huijsen still faces a suspension.

Huijsen was sent off in the 32nd minute of Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over Real Sociedad in the fourth round of La Liga on September 13. The young Real Madrid defender fouled Oyarzabal, prompting referee Gil Manzano to dismiss the player, saying he was the “last defender”, even though Eder Militao was nearby and had the ability to cover him.
