Real Madrid signs Dumfries for Mourinho.

Real Madrid have reached an agreement to release Denzel Dumfries from his contract for €20 million, a crucial deal for manager Jose Mourinho.

The ongoing election process for the Real Madrid president is causing some of the club's transfer deals to be temporarily halted.

Nevertheless, Real Madrid promptly implemented a plan to strengthen the right-back position to replace the departing Dani Carvajal, with Denzel Dumfries as their target.

The Dutch defender is highly regarded for his top-level experience with Inter, his versatility, and especially his relatively affordable price on the market.

Initially, at Jose Mourinho's suggestion, Real Madrid approached Pedro Porro, but the deal was complicated and involved a very high transfer fee.

Meanwhile, Dumfries has a release clause of just 20 million euros, a fee considered very attractive for one of the best right-wing players currently playing.

Expert Fabrizio Romano stated that the agreements are complete. Real Madrid is only waiting to activate the clause.

According to AS, Mourinho was consulted about Dumfries' situation and he gave the green light.

The Portuguese manager knows Dumfries very well after years of following top-level football.

He praised the 30-year-old's progress in defense in the demanding environment of Serie A, and also received much positive feedback regarding his discipline and adaptability.

Dumfries is expected to fill the huge void left by Carvajal. He has even cast doubt on Trent Alexander-Arnold's future.

Although not entirely in line with Real Madrid's recent trend of prioritizing young talents for the future, Dumfries meets the criteria Mourinho desires.

"The Special One" wants a player who can deliver immediate results, rather than just a long-term investment.
