Practice calligraphy, cultivate character.

Ms. Thao guides students in practicing handwriting.

The students range from 6-year-olds preparing to enter first grade to middle and high school students. What sets Ms. Thao's class apart is her lively teaching method. Instead of dry handwriting lessons, she incorporates games and creative activities. For advanced students, she guides them on how to decorate capital letters. From a stylized letter C, the students' skillful hands can transform it into a beautiful butterfly or unique artistic designs.

Mastering handwriting isn't something that happens overnight. According to Ms. Thao, to master the basic strokes according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training , students need at least 6 months of diligent practice. To write smooth, elegant handwriting, they also need talent and meticulous attention to detail. The class's achievements have been demonstrated by examples such as Nguyen Thien An (a student at Thoi Binh 1 Primary School). After only 6 months of practice, Thien An won first prize in the "Clean Notebook, Beautiful Handwriting" competition at her school. Similarly, Bui Hien Long only took about 7 months to achieve beautiful, print-like handwriting, impressing many.

Ms. Dang Ngoc Thu Trang, a resident of Hung Phu ward, shared: “My son is about to enter first grade, so I enrolled him in this class, hoping he would improve his handwriting early. After a while, he has shown positive changes: his handwriting is better, and he is more patient and meticulous in his studies.”

Amidst the hustle and bustle of life, classes like the one taught by teacher Thanh Thảo are contributing to preserving a beautiful cultural tradition, affirming the value of the saying our ancestors taught us: "Handwriting reflects character."
