(NLĐO) - FIFA President Gianni Infantino has revealed the possibility of Ronaldo participating in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, possibly even playing alongside Messi in the same team.

Speaking to the media recently, Infantino said: "Cristiano Ronaldo could play for one of the clubs participating in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. We are having discussions."

He also didn't hide his expectation that the two greatest icons of contemporary football would face each other again, the FIFA president added: "I would like to see Ronaldo and Messi play on the same team. Imagine them side-by-side in this tournament, that would be something truly special."

Even Marca commented: "The scenario of Ronaldo and Messi being on the same team or facing each other in the US is something FIFA would very much like."

Previously, numerous reports circulated suggesting that Ronaldo would join Al-Hilal – Al-Nassr's arch-rival – to realize his ambition of winning titles. Even the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF), which controls approximately 75% of the major clubs in the country, was seriously considering this possibility.

However, FIFA recently confirmed that clubs are allowed to strengthen their squads through transfers or loan deals from June 1st to 10th.
