According to Tech4Gamers , Nvidia's latest generation of graphics cards has been launched, including the rookie RTX 5080 with a price of 1,000 USD. However, this high-end card is confusing users because its performance is not outstanding, even inferior to the previous generation RTX 4080 Super in some cases.
RTX 5080 'inferior' to RTX 4080 Super in gaming performance?
According to recent performance reviews, the RTX 5080 is only about 8% faster than the RTX 4080 Super, which is a pretty modest number compared to expectations. Notably, in games like Delta Force, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty , and Counter-Strike 2 at 1,440p resolution, the RTX 5080 shows its inferiority compared to its predecessor. Both graphics cards even give similar results when running Alan Wake 2 .

The reason for this unexpected weakness is said to be due to the RTX 5080's performance being limited by the CPU. At the same time, the architectural change in Nvidia's Blackwell generation may be the main reason for this performance difference.
While this result is disappointing, Nvidia can still 'recover' by improving performance through future driver updates.
