Along streets like Thai Nguyen, Le Thanh Phuong, Yersin, and Le Thanh Ton, the atmosphere of spring is vibrant and bustling with every step. Under the gentle spring sunshine, flags, banners, and posters celebrating the Party and the Spring Festival are brightly displayed throughout the city. On the sidewalks, alongside the familiar yellow apricot blossoms and Southern chrysanthemums, there are also pink peach blossoms from the North, and phalaenopsis and cymbidium orchids from Lam Dong, brought in in abundance by vendors. Especially, the current cool weather in Khanh Hoa is perfect for tourists to stroll around and for locals to browse and buy flowers to decorate for Tet (Lunar New Year).
Mr. Tran Ba Ninh, Director of Ba Ninh Limited Company (Hoa Thang Ward), said that this Lunar New Year, in addition to the orchids produced by his company, they also imported Phalaenopsis orchids from Da Lat to serve the Tet market demand at their product showroom on Le Thanh Ton Street (Nha Trang Ward). With large, thick petals and elegant colors, Phalaenopsis orchids continue to be favored by consumers thanks to their luxurious beauty, high durability, and auspicious feng shui meaning during the early days of spring.
According to Mr. Ninh, the price of Phalaenopsis orchids currently ranges from several hundred thousand to several million dong per pot, depending on the number of stems, orchid variety, and style; large, intricately designed pots command higher prices. In recent days, there has been a large number of visitors, especially those interested in new styles and modern designs suitable for decorating homes, offices, and commercial areas during Tet (Lunar New Year).
According to observations by VNA reporters, apricot blossoms for Tet (Vietnamese New Year) have begun to bloom, their vibrant yellow color illuminating many streets. In the Le Thanh Ton area, vendors are selling apricot blossom trees at prices ranging from 500,000 VND to 3 million VND per pot. Peach blossoms from the North are also being sold in various sizes, priced from several hundred thousand to millions of VND per pot. Various types of chrysanthemums, such as pompom chrysanthemums, marigolds, and large-flowered chrysanthemums, are available in a wide variety, priced from tens of thousands of VND to around 2.5 million VND per pot. In addition, many types of bonsai and ornamental plants are also being offered to the market to meet customer demand for Tet decorations.
Due to the impact of recent floods and heavy rains, many flower gardens in Khanh Hoa and other central provinces have suffered damage, resulting in a slight increase in flower prices this year compared to previous years. Small traders are willing to deliver flowers and ornamental plants directly to customers who purchase large quantities.
Mr. Tran Van Anh Tai (from Nam Nha Trang ward) shared that in the days leading up to Tet, he often spends time strolling through the streets admiring flowers to feel the spring atmosphere. This year, amidst the characteristic yellow apricot blossoms of Central Vietnam, the peach blossom pots from the North displayed on the streets give him a feeling of closeness and familiarity.
“I was born and raised in the North, and every Tet holiday is associated with the pink peach blossoms in front of my house. So this year, I chose to buy a potted peach blossom tree to display in my house, both to create a festive atmosphere and to ease my homesickness,” said Mr. Tai. According to him, the diversity of Tet flowers in Khanh Hoa this year not only meets the decorative needs of the people but also brings a warm feeling to those who are far from home working.
Not only are the flower-lined streets bustling, but the lantern street area in front of Thai Nguyen Junior High School (Nha Trang ward) is also vibrant with the participation of many businesses. Hundreds of red lanterns, lucky money envelopes, Tet decorations, along with apricot and peach blossoms, are on display, attracting a large number of locals and tourists to visit, shop, and take souvenir photos. In addition, OCOP products and local specialties are also showcased at the Children's Cultural Palace, contributing to a rich shopping experience during Tet.
The Khánh Hòa provincial government has proactively arranged and facilitated the placement of Tet flower vendors on streets and public areas, meeting the business needs of gardeners and small traders, while also serving the shopping needs of people during Tet. In addition, functional forces have intensified inspections, guidance, and reminders regarding the proper arrangement of selling points, ensuring they do not encroach on sidewalks and roads, and do not disrupt public order and traffic safety.
These days, from urban to rural areas, many roads and residential areas in Khanh Hoa province are being decorated with national flags, flowers are being planted, and the landscape is being beautified by the authorities and people. The vibrant spirit of spring is spreading everywhere, not only highlighting the increasingly prosperous appearance of urban and rural areas but also reflecting the faith and expectations of the people of Khanh Hoa for a prosperous and successful new year.
