In early September, Pham Trong Nghia (34 years old) traveled from Central Vietnam to Northwest Vietnam , enjoying both the National Day holiday and the sight of the ripening rice fields turning golden across Lao Cai.

Sa Pa and Y Tý are the two main destinations on this trip. The rice harvest season in Sa Pa arrives earlier than in Y Tý, however, the best time to capture the golden rice fields in both places is in the first half of September.

One of the highlights of Sa Pa is the Ta Van area, in the Muong Hoa valley. Amidst the vast expanse of terraced rice fields, you'll find scattered stilt houses, homestays, and rice-watching huts belonging to the local people.

In Sa Pa, Trong Nghia spent most of his time visiting Ta Van village and relaxing at cafes nestled amidst rice fields with valley views, such as La Cafe, De Mong Cafe, and Sailing Cafe.

The scenery of Ta Van village with the Muong Hoa stream at the beginning of the rice harvest season is as beautiful as a painting.

Trọng Nghĩa's impression of Ta Van village in Sa Pa is that it's a very beautiful village, nestled in a valley surrounded by terraced rice fields. Coming here to relax, drink coffee and admire the scenery is a worthwhile experience after stressful days at work.

Although the rice in Y Tý ripens later than in Sa Pa, tourists who want to see the beautiful and uniform rice harvest season should not hesitate to set off immediately.

Recounting his trip to Lao Cai , Trong Nghia said that after staying in Ta Van and Sa Pa, he rode his motorbike from Sa Pa to Y Ty. “The road was quite bad; it took me more than four hours to ride, with lots of rocks and mud. Despite the bad road, the scenery in Y Ty left a lasting impression, with its pristine and peaceful beauty.”

Trong Nghia is a freelance photographer who has traveled to several places in the North, but this is his first time trying his hand at a solo backpacking trip on the roads of Northwest Vietnam.

This gently winding stretch of road is a popular check-in spot for many tourists and photographers because it offers a panoramic view of mountains, clouds, and rice fields all in one frame.

In Y Tý, Trọng Nghĩa visited famous spots such as "Choản Thèn Park," A Lù village, etc. This was the young man's first solo trip to Northwest Vietnam, and most of the photos he took were self-taken with a drone, thanks to children, or other tourists he met along the way.

The dreamy, peaceful beauty is located near "Choan Then Park" - the affectionate name given by backpackers to the open space at the end of the road that runs through Choan Then village in Y Ty. The spot with the two ancient trees in the distance is one of the best places to watch the clouds in this area. To meet the needs of tourists who want to take photos, Y Ty also has cafes, rest stops, and photo spots.
