From traditional craft villages to vibrant cultural spaces
Since the 1990s, Tich Giang has echoed with the sounds of pruning, pinching, and joyful laughter in its gardens overflowing with colorful leaves and fragrant flowers. The art of ornamental plant cultivation here originated from the skillful hands of pioneering artisans such as Mr. Do Xuan, Mr. Nguyen Van Uoc, and Mr. Nguyen Tien Cat... It was they who sowed the first "seeds" for the movement of growing flowers and creating ornamental plants in this riverside area.
Over three decades, those seeds have blossomed into a whole "green kingdom." Hundreds of hectares of flowers, bonsai, and ornamental plants stretch across the embankments and fields; cooperatives and businesses, such as Mr. Khuat Van Hong's Ngoc Trang Company and artisans Ha Dat Uy, Nguyen Tien Quang, and Kieu Binh Thanh, have prospered from this traditional craft. Each product, each plant, carries within it the cultural essence of Hanoi 's elegant, creative, and beauty-loving people.

More than just a place preserving traditional crafts, Tich Giang today is also an attractive destination for tourists who love nature and rural culture. In Tich Giang, visitors can stroll through vast fields of colorful flowers, listen to stories of the craft village, experience flower care, create bonsai with artisans, or personally select and buy potted plants and flowers to take home as souvenirs. All of this creates the unique rhythm of life in a "green" countryside – where art, agriculture , and tourism intertwine. In particular, being recognized as a flower and ornamental plant craft village in 2024 has opened up a sustainable development direction for Tich Giang, linking agricultural production with eco-tourism and experiential tourism. This is a stepping stone for the locality to gradually assert its position on the tourism map of the capital city.

New and unique tourism products
On the evening of October 18th, at the ceremony announcing new Hanoi tourism products for 2025 - "The Quintessence of Vietnam," organized by the Hanoi Department of Tourism in coordination with Phuc Tho commune, the product "The Beauty of the Tường Phiêu Flower" was one of three new tourism products. These are: "The Southern Thang Long Heritage Route, Hanoi - The Quintessence of Vietnamese Craft Villages," connecting the communes of Dai Thanh, Hong Van, Ngoc Hoi, and Chuyen My; the "Learning Route" in O Dien commune; and "The Beauty of the Tường Phiêu Flower" in Phuc Tho commune.

Spanning over 100 hectares, fields of ancient chrysanthemums, roses, and hundreds of other flowers and ornamental plants bloom, creating a vibrant landscape that reflects the skillful hands and diligent spirit of the people of the Đoài region. Standing out amidst this scenery is Tường Phiêu communal house – a special national monument bearing the distinctive architectural imprint of the Lê dynasty, embodying the historical and cultural values of this ancient land. The harmonious blend of nature, heritage, and people has given rise to the tourism product "The Colors of Tường Phiêu Flowers" – a rural destination rich in character, where visitors can experience the simple, fresh, and enduring beauty of contemporary Hanoi, yet still imbued with the spirit of the old countryside.

Chairman of Phuc Tho Commune People's Committee, Kieu Trong Sy, shared: "The Tường Phiêu flower is not just a tourism product, but a symbol of the harmony between nature, people, and culture of the Đoài region." Amidst the tranquil ancient Tường Phiêu communal house, beside the gentle Tich River, the sprawling flower fields and meticulously shaped gardens blend together to create a vibrant picture of Hanoi's countryside, imbued with the spirit of the village while subtly reflecting the spirit of the times. Chairman Kieu Trong Sy emphasized: "Developing rural tourism is not just about welcoming guests, but about preserving the soul of the village, nurturing memories, and attracting Hanoians and visitors from afar to experience the true value of life." There, each flower, each tree is the culmination of the sweat, knowledge, and love for the land of generations of Phuc Tho people. Therefore, the "Tường Phiêu Flower" is considered a vivid testament to the simple yet profound philosophy: "When people love the land, the land will bloom."
In the coming time, Phuc Tho commune will continue to work alongside the city and the tourism industry, aiming to build a green, civilized, compassionate, and sustainable destination, contributing to making Hanoi greener, more beautiful, and more livable.
