AR books open up a new direction for children's reading culture.

In the context of reading culture facing numerous challenges from digital entertainment media, augmented reality (AR) in children's books is seen as a way to revitalize the reading experience and bring books closer to the younger generation of readers.

With "Galactic Adventure," children can explore the solar system visually, observe the movement of planets, and access astronomical knowledge in a lively way. Meanwhile, "The Wonderful Forest" opens up a natural space close to nature with a rich animal ecosystem, helping children "meet" animals through realistic images and sounds.

According to Dr. Trinh Cam Ly, a specialist in the Department of General Education (Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training), the value of AR books lies not only in their technological aspects but also in their ability to support the holistic development of children. “In the digital age, we cannot prevent children from accessing technology, but we can guide how they use technology for learning. AR books are the key to unlocking imagination, transforming learning from dry theory into a journey of discovery,” Dr. Cam Ly shared.

According to Dr. Trinh Cam Ly, direct interaction through "seeing, hearing, and touching" helps children develop imagination, connection, and creativity from what they receive; at the same time, "living" with the characters in the story also contributes to nurturing emotions and developing thinking.

From a technological perspective, Mr. Nguyen Huy, former Senior Technical Director at Genie Book, emphasized that AR is not addictive like passive video games or short videos. It requires children to interact with and observe real objects, thereby stimulating curiosity and helping them understand knowledge actively.

More than just an educational product, SPACES' AR book series reflects the publishing industry's innovative trend of adapting to the digital age. As traditional reading habits are increasingly overshadowed by fast-paced entertainment, incorporating technology is seen as a solution to retain young readers.

Accordingly, technology does not replace books but plays a supporting role, enriching the experience and increasing the level of interaction. Children not only read but also explore, ask questions, and actively acquire knowledge.

Ms. Doan Phuong Thoa, founder of SPACES, said: “We believe that technology is the foundation for children to integrate into a constantly changing world. Instead of prohibiting it, we can use technology as a bridge to awaken children's inherent passion for learning.”

According to Ms. Phuong Thoa, AR does not replace reading but acts as a "catalyst" to make knowledge more engaging, thereby guiding children back to books with enthusiasm.

In the context of rapid digital transformation, the emergence of models like AR books shows that reading culture is not lagging behind the trend but is being renewed in a more flexible direction. When technology is used correctly, each page of a book not only conveys information but also becomes the starting point for inspiring journeys of discovery for the younger generation.
