Salzburg city of the Republic of Austria is always attractive, poetic and contains attractions that tours to Central Europe cannot miss. |
Unique Baroque architecture
Salzburg is the capital of the state of Salzburg in Austria. With a large population, it is considered one of the major centers of the country, an important trading point in Europe.
Salzburg was built and formed in the 5th century, its name means "salt fortress", because throughout thousands of years of history, people have exploited salt from mines around the city and thanks to that, Salzburg became one of the most prosperous and developed cities in Austria.
Nestled in the arms of the Alps and crossed by the soft “silk strip” of Salzach, Salzburg appears to travelers as an ancient and quiet small town. In particular, Salzburg is famous for its ancient Baroque architecture, found throughout the old town with houses, bell towers, fortresses... Many buildings were destroyed during World War II, but the Baroque buildings are still preserved intact.
One of Salzburg's major tourist attractions is the Hohensalzburg Fortress, located on the Festungsberg hill, south of the old town. Construction began on the fortress in 1077 and was gradually expanded over the following centuries. It has served as a residence for prince-archbishops, a military barracks and a prison, and is one of the largest and best preserved medieval fortresses in Europe.
Another equally famous fortress is the Festung Hohensalzburg fortress, considered the pride of the Republic of Austria. The fortress was built with a perfect defense system, an impregnable place. Therefore, this is the place where the prince, the army, the archbishop and the prison lived.
When visiting the Festung Hohensalzburg fortress, visitors will visit the prince's residence, the courtyard with the stronghold, the ancient title collection. The fortress also has the Golden Room with its splendid interior in impressive medieval style. You can climb to the top of the hill to see the whole city of Salzburg and part of the Alps.
A must-see attraction when coming to Salzburgnuwzxa is the old town of Salzburg, recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site. There is a blacksmith shop operating here along with many locksmith shops and some other old bakeries. Here you can freely shop, enjoy traditional specialties, and walk to every corner to explore the nostalgic space here.
If you have time, visit Untersberg Mountain, where you can see the city of Salzburg from above. This mountain peak is located 16km from the center, you can choose the cable car to the top. Up here, you will feel the peaceful atmosphere with the image of the undulating mountain peaks between the sea, the blue sky, truly relaxing and magical.
City of Art
Not only that, coming to Salzburg is coming to the center of art and music , the city of unique cultural activities.
The large square in front of the Salzburg Cathedral is the venue for outdoor operas that attract large audiences on warm summer days. The fountain in front of the square has a beauty that is both ancient and modern with the majestic and heroic heads of horses, facing the blue sky.
Walking around the center of Salzburg, visitors seem to be immersed in a peaceful, romantic space by the gentle sound of violins and guitars echoing everywhere. It is a performance by street artists or conservatory students who both practice and earn a living.
Here and there on the streets of the city, a few artists sit and draw portraits for tourists for 15 minutes. The peaceful, quiet but also lively beauty of Salzburg always captivates the hearts of tourists once they set foot here.
In addition, this city is also the hometown of the great composer Mozart and is considered the heart of Austrian theater art. The house where the genius Mozart was born and raised is located on a small street in the center of the old town. The outside of the house is painted yellow and has the words Mozarts Geburtshaus. This place has now become a famous museum that stores a lot of documents about the great composer and his family. Sitting in the house, looking at historical artifacts and immersing myself in Mozart's immortal music, I feel like Salzburg is truly a "sleeping paradise" of Austria.
In 1997, UNESCO recognized Salzburg as a world heritage site, certifying the preservation of architectural art and culture in this city.
