Many automation applications
Mr. Phan Kieu Hung, Director of Da Nang International Airport, said that from now on, passengers can check in for flights without documents through Face ID authentication on the VNeID application, at Da Nang airport.

Accordingly, passengers of Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air taking domestic flights from Da Nang International Airport can use biometrics on the VNeID platform to check in for flights, replacing the need to present documents as before.
This is an important step in modernizing Vietnam's aviation system, while affirming Da Nang's position as one of the leading airports in applying high technology.
The implementation of biometric check-in procedures aims to provide a fast, convenient and safe experience for passengers.
Previously, from March 2025, Da Nang airport officially operated the “Smart Terminal” model at the T2 international terminal, becoming the first airport in Vietnam to automate the entire check-in process for international passengers. With automated processes from check-in, security screening, customs to boarding.
Applying biometric technology (Autogate) helps passengers complete immigration procedures within just 1 minute, combined with an AI camera system to monitor population density, provide smart movement guidance, and reduce congestion. At the same time, applying a multilingual screen helps foreigners easily access service information...
This is a breakthrough in the application of 4.0 technology, putting Da Nang ahead of many major domestic airports in digital transformation and passenger experience.
Regarding the paperless check-in service, through Face ID authentication on the VNeID application, Da Nang International Airport said that passengers using VNeID during the check-in process need to follow three steps.
At check-in point: Passengers open the VNeID application on their personal phone. Select Other services. Online check-in procedures and follow the on-screen instructions.
After completing online check-in, passengers proceed to the security check area. Passengers can also check in and register their facial data at check-in counters 05, 06 and counter 28.
At the security checkpoint: passengers move to the security checkpoint area equipped with a biometric system (1 point at aisle 2 - passenger terminal T1). Here, passengers stand in the guided position with footprints, looking directly at the camera screen for the system to perform facial recognition. After the system successfully authenticates and opens the door, passengers continue to move into the security screening area.
At the boarding gate: passengers stand in a designated position, look at the camera for the system to identify them. After successful authentication, the door will automatically open and passengers will board the plane without having to come into contact with staff.
Continued impressive growth
To facilitate the flight check-in process, Da Nang International Airport recommends that passengers update their VNeID level 2 electronic identification account and ensure they are using the latest application version.
Customers need to download and update the latest mobile application of Vietnam Airlines or Vietjet Air to support quick information confirmation.
Also, bring valid identification documents (citizen identification card, passport, etc.) as a backup in case the biometric system has technical problems. In particular, paperless check-in procedures only apply to passengers aged 14 and over.
It is known that in the first 6 months of 2025, Da Nang International Airport continued to have impressive growth with the number of passengers passing through Da Nang airport reaching more than 7.4 million (reaching 51.3% of the yearly plan, up nearly 11.4% over the same period); aircraft take-offs and landings reached nearly 45,000 times (reaching nearly 49% of the yearly plan, up more than 12%), cargo output reached nearly 18,700 tons (reaching 46.36% of the yearly plan, up more than 25%), total revenue reached over 912 billion VND, completing more than 53% of the yearly plan.
As of July 14, Da Nang airport welcomed more than 49,300 takeoffs and landings with more than 8.1 million passengers, reaching more than 56% of the yearly plan.
Da Nang International Airport said that Da Nang airport also achieved impressive results with 2 consecutive years 2024 - 2025 being recognized by the international air transport rating organization Skytrax as one of the top 100 best airports in the world.
With strong steps in modernization, automation and international expansion, Da Nang airport is not only a traffic hub but also a new symbol of a modern, integrated and dynamic city.
