For the first time participating in the OCOP Program in 2022, Hong Ky Agricultural Service Cooperative, Uc Ky Commune (Phu Binh) has had 3 products (Tau Dau sticky rice, Uc Ky soy sauce and Hong Ky sticky rice) recognized. achieved OCOP 3 stars at provincial level.
Sharing about this joy, Mr. Duong Van Duy, director of the cooperative, said: This is the result of the efforts of the members and employees in the cooperative, along with the attention and facilitation of the local and functional industry. In order to improve product quality, from 2021, the cooperative has cooperated with 90 households in Uc Ky commune to build a 10ha Thau Dau sticky rice material area, produced according to VietGAP standards; machinery investment; packaging design with access code, eye-catching labels to make an impression on customers.
In addition, the functional branches of the province and local authorities also support the cooperative with a part of the cost of investing in stamps, granting planting area codes, guiding registration documents, etc.
According to Mr. Duy, since the product was recognized as OCOP, the amount of goods sold by the cooperative has increased higher than before. Recently, Hong Ky Agricultural Service Cooperative has signed a long-term contract to supply Thau Dau sticky rice to Ban Viet Cooperative (Bao Ly commune) and has sold nearly 1 ton of rice to this cooperative in the past 2 months.
Also in 2022, Hoang Nong Tea Cooperative (Dai Tu) has a product "Hoang Tam tea" which has been recognized as a 3-star OCOP. Mr. Trinh Van Khanh, director of the cooperative, said: The cooperative was established in 2020, with 11 members and 50 associated households. The total area of our VietGAP tea material area is 40ha.
In the past time, along with ensuring production according to VietGAP process, Hoang Nong tea cooperative has invested hundreds of millions of dong to purchase machinery (4 gas corrugated iron, 12 tons of firewood, 60 tea grinders, 1 vacuum machine) no, 3 generators), renovating the 700m2 factory to meet production needs. In 2023, the cooperative will continue to strive for two more OCOP-starred tea products.

Not only the two units mentioned above, over the past time, cooperatives in the province have well exploited their advantages in agricultural production to diversify OCOP products, such as tea, bamboo shoots, vermicelli, rice noodles, spring rolls, soy sauce, etc. sticky rice, horseradish, giraffe, dried meat…
As a result, after only 4 years of evaluation and rating (2019-2022), Thai Nguyen has 173 products rated OCOP standard 3-5 stars, of which, 70% are products of agricultural cooperatives. This shows that agricultural cooperatives are the core force in developing OCOP products.
To achieve this result, besides the efforts of each cooperative, functional branches of the province and locality have paid much attention and implemented policies to support agricultural and rural development, create favorable for agricultural cooperatives to develop in both quantity and quality.
In just two years (2-2021), the province has 2022 newly established agricultural cooperatives. Currently, Thai Nguyen has 91 agricultural cooperatives and 495 agricultural cooperative unions. On average, each commune in the province has at least one cooperative operating in the field of agriculture, in which many cooperatives have participated in linking production and consumption of products along the value chain, building brands and raising prices. high value of products on the market, especially OCOP products.
Since then, in many localities, concentrated agricultural production areas have been established, making an important contribution to promoting agricultural restructuring, sustainable poverty reduction, raising incomes and building new rural areas in the locality.
According to the assessment of the functional industry, the economic value of products after being evaluated and rated by OCOP increases by 20% or more. Sales of units with 3-star, 4-star and 5-star OCOP products all increased by 20-50%.
