In the first 6 months of 2023, the province's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) increased by 3.76%, the Industrial Production Index is estimated to increase by 2.65% over the same period in 2022. Of which, the manufacturing and processing industry increased by 2.5% over the same period.

Still growing in difficulty
The 2.5% growth in the manufacturing and processing industry is a great effort of the business community, all levels and sectors in the context of the world economy showing a slowing growth trend, the supply chain continuing to weaken and the prolonged conflict in Ukraine.
Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade: The Department of Industry and Trade always monitors and has policies to support enterprises in the province in the production and development process, especially enterprises in the wood industry - the province's key industry. In addition, it always closely follows domestic and international market developments, effectively implements trade promotion activities, has timely responses in production and circulation of goods, focuses on implementing sustainable and long-term solutions for the development of the wood industry. |
Looking back at the production and business activities of enterprises in the province from the beginning of 2023 to present, we can see great efforts to overcome difficulties. The most difficult sectors are the wood, textile, and footwear manufacturing industries due to the negative impacts of the world market and the slowdown in exports. However, enterprises always strive to maintain production along with repositioning the value of the supply chain of goods, preparing the necessary and sufficient conditions to survive and grow.
According to Mr. Nguyen Liem, Chairman of Binh Duong Wood Processing Association, enterprises in the association still maintain production, connect and share to overcome difficulties together. With continuous efforts, "bright spots" appear more clearly when in June, the Industrial Production Index is estimated to increase by 3.2%, the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 3.3% compared to the previous month.
Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said that the department always monitors and has policies to support enterprises in the province in the production and development process, especially enterprises in the wood industry - the province's key industry. In addition, it always closely follows domestic and international market developments, effectively implements trade promotion activities, has timely responses in production and circulation of goods, and focuses on implementing sustainable and long-term solutions for the development of the wood industry.
“Through the Bifa Wood Vietnam 2023 fair, the Organizing Committee hopes to contribute to promoting the development of Binh Duong's wood industry in particular and Vietnam in general, aiming for the wood industry's export turnover to reach 20 billion USD by 2025,” said Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha.
Build the right growth scenario
According to Mr. Nguyen Liem, the difficult situation in production and export may last until the end of 2023. Currently, the purchasing power of major markets in the world and the domestic market has decreased. Most enterprises in Binh Duong hope to be supported by promoting trade promotion to stimulate purchasing power. Thus, enterprises can release inventory and have new orders. In addition, enterprises also hope that the State Bank will continue to have preferential policies to reduce interest rates, extend and postpone debts to have more capital for investment in production, waiting for opportunities to recover.
Businesses access new machinery and technology to transform production processes and products through trade fairs.
In the textile and garment industry, enterprises have been transforming production processes and products, promoting the rapid transformation of traditional product structures into products that can adapt to the market. Notably, some enterprises are in need of recruiting workers to serve new orders. For example, Yazaki EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd. has sent a document to the Provincial Labor Federation requesting support in recruiting 785 unskilled workers and has been connected with other industries to recruit enough workers to serve production needs. That signal opens a bright path for the growth scenario in the last 6 months of the year and the following period.
According to Mr. Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, in the last 6 months of the year, the Provincial People's Committee will focus on organizing meetings and working directly with each association, enterprise, and project to promptly resolve difficulties and obstacles. Research solutions to clear and stimulate consumption, contributing to the consumption of goods because enterprises in the province are facing difficulties in export markets. Focus on regulating and ensuring stable power sources for production and daily life.
Along with that, the province accelerates the expansion of industrial parks and invests in new industrial clusters according to the plan; completes the policy of relocating enterprises from southern localities to industrial parks and clusters in northern localities. Closely monitor the situation of unemployed workers and reduced working hours to have a plan to connect labor supply and demand, support people in finding jobs and stabilizing their lives.
The Provincial People's Committee also directed the sectors to promptly forecast and assess the situation in the last months of the year, thoroughly grasp the task of removing difficulties and obstacles in land, investment and business procedures, reforming administrative procedures, supporting production and business, promoting export of goods... At the same time, build an economic growth scenario for the third quarter and the whole year of 2023 to have solutions to strive to best complete the tasks and plans set out.
In September 2023, the Bifa Wood Vietnam 2023 fair will be held in Binh Duong. Through the fair, businesses will have the opportunity to access advanced products, technologies, and diverse and abundant sources of raw wood materials, meeting the needs of manufacturing export goods to the global market... This is also an opportunity for domestic businesses and consumers to directly evaluate and select on-site advanced products, machinery, and equipment in the direction of automation from many reputable manufacturers from countries and territories such as: America, Europe, Japan, Taiwan, China...
