On the afternoon of July 30, National Highway 55, the section from Da Mi Hydroelectric Reservoir to Bao Loc City, suffered a serious landslide. Fallen trees and rocks from the hills blocked the road, causing disruption.
National Highway 55 is 219 km long, passing through Ba Ria - Vung Tau , Binh Thuan, Lam Dong. This is the East - West axis connecting the Southeast and Central Highlands provinces, which is important for the economic development of the region. Particularly in Binh Thuan, the section through Tanh Linh - Da Mi - Bao Loc is a tourist route that attracts many tourists from Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces to come for pilgrimage and sightseeing.

The authorities of Da Mi commune (Ham Thuan Bac district) mobilized 4 vehicles to clear the scene, but the amount of earth, rocks and trees that fell was too much, the road was still cut off. The locality also contacted the provincial Department of Transport for support so that vehicles could circulate again soon.
Over the past four days, Binh Thuan has been experiencing continuous heavy rain. In the mountainous areas of Tanh Linh and Ham Thuan Bac, rainfall was measured at 50-96 mm. Many agricultural production areas, houses and roads were flooded, causing damage of more than 5 billion VND.
