On the afternoon of October 5th, at the regular press conference providing socio-economic information of Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hoa, Head of the Electronic Information Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications, stated that the Ministry of Information and Communications is coordinating with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to build a white list and a black list.

" The blacklist includes those who have committed violations, and the regulatory agency discourages advertisers from cooperating with or supporting them. The whitelist, on the other hand, includes artists who have not violated advertising regulations regarding false advertising, and advertisers are encouraged to choose them for advertising. This is one way to help make the online environment cleaner," Mr. Hoa said.

According to a representative from the Department of Information and Communications, the regulations for handling accounts that violate information regulations on social media are expected to be finalized by the end of this year. In addition, the Department has proposed that the Department of Broadcasting, Television and Electronic Information block violating accounts, preventing them from appearing on social media platforms.

Also at the press conference, Mr. Lam Ngo Hoang Anh, Chief of the Office of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, said that in recent times, the management agency has made efforts to promote the code of conduct for artists and writers.

The document clearly states: " Artists participating in advertising activities must ensure that they convey truthful, accurate, and clear information about the uses and features of products and goods in accordance with the law, especially products in the fields of healthcare, education , and the environment."

Mr. Hoang Anh emphasized that artists who advertise falsely will be punished according to the law, and will be treated equally with all citizens.

Recently, many artists have participated in advertising clips that contain false information. For example, actress Hong Van exaggerated the benefits of a dietary supplement in her advertisement; Miss Mai Phuong Thuy was fined by the Food Safety Department for advertising a weight-loss product; and actress Cat Tuong falsely claimed that a milk product had "diabetes-treating effects" in her advertisement.

Although some artists have apologized, this has not appeased public outrage.
