Speaking at the event, Associate Professor Dr. Do Van Tru, President of the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association, emphasized the significance of connecting heritage with contemporary life, considering it a way to nurture community awareness and cultivate national spirit in the current context.

The highlight of the series of activities was the "Early Season Lotus" event, held on the morning of May 6th at the Vietnam Women's Museum. Here, the public was introduced to the special issue "Lotus" along with an exhibition of calligraphy works incorporating the image of the lotus flower – a symbol of purity and unwavering willpower in Vietnamese culture.

Continuing the program, the exhibition "Lotus in the Stone" - A Journey of Heritage and Peace, will open on May 12th at the Con Dao Museum and run until May 16th, bringing together 25 portraits and stories of female political prisoners during the two wars of resistance against French colonialism and American imperialism.

Each figure represents a unique journey, yet they all share a spirit of dedication, unwavering loyalty, and sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the nation. Among them are many exemplary figures such as martyr Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, female general Nguyen Thi Dinh, heroine Vo Thi Sau, former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh, former Vice President Truong My Hoa...

The exhibition not only recreates memories of the years in prison but also portrays the inner depth, resilience, and faith of Vietnamese women in harsh circumstances. Through this, the organizers hope to convey to the younger generation a message about life ideals, unwavering spirit, and faith in the future.

The event was the result of a 27-month preparation process, in collaboration between the Vietnam Women's Museum and Senhouse Vietnam Company.

The exhibition space is artistically designed using familiar materials such as lotus leaves, canvas, and bamboo screens. Notably, all the portraits are crafted from lotus leaves – a delicate yet expressive material that contributes to a unique visual and emotional effect.

The name "Lotus in Stone" is symbolic, evoking the idea of human resilience in the face of adversity. The image of the lotus represents purity and nobility, and when placed within "stone," it further highlights the beauty of dignity, willpower, and unwavering faith.

The series of activities is expected to become a bridge between the past and the present, contributing to deepening social awareness of the value of peace – an achievement bought with countless sacrifices by previous generations.
