(QNO) - As Lunar New Year approaches, postmen and shippers are always busy with hundreds of orders a day. Although it is hard work, they will have increased income to have a full Tet for their families.

Hard work but increased income
Every day, Mr. Nguyen Van Tuong (born in 1992, Tam Xuan 1 Commune, Nui Thanh) is present at the post office warehouse at 6:30 a.m. to receive and distribute goods. Near Tet, the amount of goods transported via Viettel Post increases, so Mr. Tuong has to work continuously to avoid late daily orders.
“The number of orders delivered around Nui Thanh district has increased 3 to 4 times compared to normal days, so I come home later. There are days when I deliver orders until 7 p.m. It’s hard work, but I’m happy because the pay is good,” said Mr. Tuong.
Accordingly, Mr. Tuong's average monthly income is about 12 million VND, but this Tet holiday, it increased to 15 million VND/month. 2 years ago, Nguyen Van Tuong worked as a worker, but due to the economic downturn and low wages, Tuong switched to being a shipper. He said that this job is quite tiring because he has to move constantly, taking advantage of the lunch hour or waiting until late afternoon for the recipient to return home and deliver.
“It is important not to be late with daily delivery orders to reduce shipping costs as well as meet sales targets. When the work intensity is doubled compared to normal days, you have to take better care of your health. When you return home, you rest early to recover and continue working the next day,” said Mr. Tuong.

Regularly ordering online, with more than 20 orders purchased online this Tet holiday, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhat Anh (Binh Trieu commune, Thang Binh district) said: "Almost all the orders I placed online were delivered on time. Many days, even in the hot afternoon, the shippers delivered the goods with a warm attitude."
According to shippers, workers make up the majority of customers who order online, so to save delivery time, they will wait for customers to receive orders at the company gates. Delivery people from shipping companies Shopee, J&T Express, Viettel Post, Fast Delivery... usually arrive at 10am to prepare orders and wait for workers to receive them.
Shipper Nguyen Van Thang (born in 1995, Hoa Thuan ward, Tam Ky city) said that before delivering the goods, he calls the customer in advance to arrange a pick-up location and when the order is successfully delivered, he will receive a fee of 3,000 VND or more depending on the shipping distance.
“I have only been working as a shipper for 3 months, so I am quite confused and a bit slower than other colleagues. At the end of this year, my delivery orders in Tam Ky area are up to more than 200 orders/day, so I have to try to overcome the pressure to increase my income and take care of my family,” said Mr. Thang.

“Many times, we skip meals until late afternoon, then quickly eat a sandwich and run to deliver the goods. However, what our shippers are most frustrated about is the situation of “bombing the goods”. Some customers do not answer the phone, others do not pick up the phone or make appointments over and over again for some reason… Many delivery staff are even scolded by customers because they mistakenly think they are scammers,” a shipper shared.

Take care and encourage shippers
To meet the demand for online shopping that increased fourfold during Tet, the transportation service of Viettel Post - Quang Nam Branch (Viettel post Quang Nam) increased nearly 10 trucks, ensuring 10 regular trips/day to post offices in the province.
In addition, at 14 post offices and 1 operation center in the province, more than 140 postmen of Viettel Post Quang Nam are increasing delivery productivity 3 shifts/day so that 315 thousand orders are successfully delivered before December 28.
Mr. Do Xuan Thang - Director of Viettel Quang Nam Postal Branch said that to encourage postmen at peak times, Viettel Post has a policy of rewarding diligence and sales based on the productivity of orders delivered during the day based on milestones of 50, 70, 80, 90, 100 orders...
"On Sundays and holidays, postmen will receive an additional 25% support for delivery costs. In addition, the union and organizations of this unit also visit post offices and give gifts to encourage workers," said Mr. Thang.

Driver Le Van Duc - Quang Nam Province Post Office Transport Exploitation Center said: "When the volume of goods increases, we drivers will have to work with higher intensity.
To ensure safety when participating in traffic and transporting goods to post offices on schedule, we must arrange reasonable rest schedules and eat well.
The happiest thing is that we have leaders come to encourage us, listen to the workers' thoughts and have timely gifts of encouragement."

Quang Nam Provincial Post Office has fully prepared production organization plans to ensure stable flow of goods, serving well the needs of customers using postal services. Of which, the postal force is 242 people, 13 drivers and the human resources at the delivery offices are 51 workers.
Mr. Tran Thanh Binh - Deputy Director of Quang Nam Post Office said that based on the volume of goods on each delivery route at each time, the post office proactively arranges additional human resources for delivery routes with large output, and organizes delivery outside of business hours.
To ensure the safety of goods, the post office also pays special attention to and strengthens the inspection of the condition of packages during delivery and receipt between relevant departments; checks outgoing mail during mail shipments to promptly detect errors and improve quality control, sorting, and minimizing the possibility of loss, misdirection, damage, etc.
“With the principle of delivering all goods within the shift and within the day, we proactively build additional delivery trips to ensure that all mail arriving at the post office on the 29th of Tet is delivered before Tet, at the latest before 12 noon on the 30th of Tet,” said Mr. Binh.
