Subsequently, at 00:15 on January 31, 2026, during a patrol of the river routes, the Quach Pham Commune Police patrol team discovered a suspicious-looking boat. Upon inspection, authorities found 10 roosters and an unidentified battery on board. The driver identified himself as NVC (born in 1981, residing in Xom Bien Hamlet, Dat Mui Commune). The patrol team invited the suspect to the commune police station for questioning. Verification revealed that on the night of January 30, 2026, suspect C. had stolen 10 roosters from a household in Tan Tien Commune and subsequently stole a battery in Thanh Tung Commune. He was apprehended by the patrol team while attempting to escape. The Quach Pham Commune Police handed over the case to the Tan Tien Commune Police for further investigation and legal processing.
Following a month-long intensive crackdown on crime, local police organized nearly 900 night patrols with over 5,000 officers and soldiers participating; detecting and handling dozens of violations, including dismantling many property theft rings. For example, the Quach Pham commune police seized 22 civets in a theft case; the Dam Doi commune police, in coordination with the Ta An Khuong commune police, arrested three individuals for motorcycle theft in the area.
These incidents further affirm the high level of determination of local police forces in combating, preventing, and suppressing property theft, with a proactive and resolute spirit, preventing criminals from taking advantage of the period leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year) to operate and disrupt security and order. Police forces in communes and wards maintain strict duty schedules, closely monitor their areas, and intensify comprehensive night patrols to promptly detect and handle violations of the law early and from afar, ensuring that all situations are tightly controlled.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Nguyen, Head of Tan Hung Commune Police, said: “We have intensified patrols throughout the area, focusing on key routes, areas, and time slots, especially during the period leading up to the Lunar New Year; we are concentrating on reviewing and closely managing individuals with suspicious behavior. At the same time, we are stepping up propaganda and guidance to raise people's awareness of self-management and proactively protect their property. With a resolute and proactive approach, we are determined to prevent and reduce property theft to the lowest possible level, maintaining security and order at the grassroots level.”
During a patrol, the police in Quách Phẩm commune discovered and prevented a theft of property, seizing 22 civets.
With the motto "proactive prevention - resolute attack - strict handling," the local police continue to play a core role in ensuring security and order in residential areas; closely coordinating with other forces and leveraging the strength of the nationwide movement to protect national security, determined to maintain stability in security and order, so that the people can enjoy the spring and celebrate Tet safely and peacefully.
The peak period must be implemented with the highest determination, synchronized and decisive action, without any forbidden areas or exceptions. Professional departments and commune/ward police continue to closely monitor their areas, thoroughly understand the situation, and promptly detect and strictly handle violations of the law. Proactive prevention should be implemented early and from afar, preventing criminals from exploiting the Lunar New Year and other major national events to operate. The overarching goal is to maintain stable security and order, ensuring a peaceful life for the people.
Colonel Chau Quoc Huy, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police, emphasized this point.
As the Lunar New Year approaches, property theft is expected to increase with more sophisticated methods and tactics. Therefore, in addition to the vigorous and regular involvement of law enforcement agencies in patrolling and monitoring, each citizen and household needs to further enhance their vigilance, proactively prevent theft, and avoid complacency in managing and protecting their property. This will contribute to building a nationwide movement to protect national security, effectively combating theft, and safeguarding their own property.
