Teacher Giom's student nicknamed "superman"
Tran Gia Huy is one of the names that was admitted to the JMG Football Academy in 2013, led by French coach Guillaume Graechen (often called Mr. Giom, who trained talented and famous players of HAGL such as Cong Phuong, Xuan Truong, Van Toan...). From the very beginning, coach Graechen highly appreciated Gia Huy's technical qualities. Although his physique is much smaller than his peers, the ball handling ability of the player born in 2003 is considered different.
Not from the media or fans, the nickname "superman" was given to Tran Gia Huy by this player's family. His parents called Gia Huy by that affectionate name since he was a child, and then when he entered the football academy, that nickname was called by his friends and coaches as a familiar, close part.

Journey of overcoming challenges
Despite his talent, Gia Huy encountered a major obstacle in pursuing his passion when he was diagnosed with stunted growth and physical retardation (similar to Argentine football superstar Lionel Messi). Without medical intervention, Gia Huy probably would not have been able to pursue top-level football.
After that, Tran Gia Huy was put on a special treatment regimen by Nutifood's medical team. Therefore, for many years, Gia Huy was not allowed to play on the field. It was a challenging time when his teammates took turns playing and shining in youth tournaments, while Gia Huy had to quietly practice and receive treatment step by step.

At the end of 2020, the treatment regimen officially ended. In a meeting with Thanh Nien Newspaper reporters in 2021, Gia Huy was 1.72 m tall. Since then, Gia Huy has started to play more consistently in national U.19 and U.21 tournaments. Gia Huy is in the same generation as talented players who are currently playing for the Vietnam U.23 team that just won the 2025 Southeast Asian U.23 Championship, such as striker Nguyen Quoc Viet, center back Pham Ly Duc, and Nguyen Nhat Minh. They grew up together and played for the Nutifood JMG Football Academy team in domestic youth tournaments.
Closer to the dream
After a long journey through many challenges, Gia Huy tried his hand at Phu Tho Club and Hoa Binh Club, before officially signing a contract with HAGL Club, adding to the squad to prepare for the 2025-2026 season.

Up to now, it is known that Gia Huy is about 1.75 m tall, which is quite high compared to the average level of Vietnamese football. Gia Huy is no longer the short player of the past, but has matured, has the courage and desire to express himself. The road ahead is still long, and V-League is a harsh challenge. But with perseverance, determination and passion for football that has not changed over the past 10 years, hopefully Gia Huy will make progress in the shirt of the mountain town team.
