The above information was shared by Dr. Le Anh Duc, Head of Training Management Department, National Economics University at the school's admission consultation session held today (May 25).

At the consultation session, many candidates and parents wondered about how to convert equivalent scores between admission methods to schools this year.

Dr. Anh Duc said that regardless of the method of registration, the admission scores must be converted to the same 30-point scale, then the school will take the highest score to consider admission equally and fairly among all candidates.

“Thus, candidates who have both an international English certificate IELTS and a test score of Hanoi National University must convert to a 30-point scale. When considering admission, the system will only use the highest score for consideration,” said Mr. Duc.

Regarding the equivalent conversion table, according to Dr. Le Anh Duc, the Ministry of Education and Training only provides the conversion framework, and schools will use that as a basis to build their own conversion tables. The National Economics University will rely on the conversion framework of the Ministry of Education and Training to calculate specific percentiles.

In addition, the school also relies on other data, such as: the academic results of students admitted by each method to the school in previous years, plus the score distribution of the 2025 high school graduation exam and the score distribution of competency assessment and thinking assessment exams.

"For example, the school must see how students who used a 100-point competency assessment test score in the past years performed, or how students who scored 28 points on the high school graduation exam performed, from which they have a basis to build an equivalent conversion table," he further analyzed.

Dr. Anh Duc also revealed that recently, the National Economics University conducted a survey on the academic results of admitted students in the past 3 years and found that, at the same level, candidates with the results of the Hanoi National University's competency assessment test combined with an English certificate achieved better academic results than students admitted by other admission methods (high school graduation exam scores, direct admission...).

“Currently, the National Economics University has calculated the percentile values, but it is mainly based on the results of the high school graduation exam, the ability assessment test, and the thinking test from 2024 onwards, so it is not valid this year,” said Mr. Duc. The school is expected to announce the conversion formula for admission scores before July 23.

Giving advice to candidates, the Head of Training Management Department said that candidates do not need to be too distracted by the conversion. The changes in this year's regulations are basically aimed at creating favorable conditions for candidates in the admission process. Regardless of the equivalent conversion rules, candidates with good abilities will certainly have many opportunities to be admitted to the school.

This year, National Economics University recruits 8,200 students (an increase of about 600 students compared to last year) into 73 majors.

The school maintains 3 stable admission methods: Direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; Admission based on the 2025 high school graduation exam scores with 4 groups, including A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry), A01 (Math, Physics, English), D01 (Math, Literature, English), D07 (Math, Chemistry, English). Thus, compared to last year, the school stopped 5 admission groups including: B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology), C03 (Math, Literature, History), C04 (Literature, Math, Geography), D09 (Math, History, English), D10 (Math, Geography, English).

The final option is combined admission. In group 1, candidates have international SAT or ACT certificates. The conditions for receiving applications are that candidates achieve an SAT score of 1,200 or higher or an ACT score of 26 or higher within 2 years from June 1, 2025.

Group 2, candidates with the HSA test score of Hanoi National University or (APT) of Ho Chi Minh City National University or with the TSA test score of Hanoi University of Science and Technology or candidates with an international English certificate (CCTAQT) combined with one of the HSA/APT/TSA test scores mentioned above.

Conditions for receiving application documents: candidates must have HSA score of 85 points or higher, APT score of 700 points or higher, or TSA score of 60 points or higher; or candidates must have CCTAQT score of IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 46 or TOEIC (4 skills: L&R 785, S 160 &W 150) or higher combined with the above HSA/APT/TSA scores;

Group 3, including candidates with international English certificates combined with high school graduation exam scores in 2025. Conditions for receiving applications, candidates with international English certificates within 2 years from June 1, 2025, achieving IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 46 or TOEIC (4 skills: L&R 785, S 160, W 150) or higher and have high school graduation exam scores in 2025 in math and 1 other subject English in the University's admission groups.
