Which universities offer students up to 8 days off during the April 30th and May 1st holidays?

Dr. Nguyen Van Kha, Deputy Director of the Admissions and Communications Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, informed that the university is giving students a holiday on April 30th and May 1st, exactly 5 days according to the holiday schedule recently approved by the Prime Minister .

"Normally, students at the school still have to attend classes on Saturdays. Therefore, when students have a five-day holiday from Saturday (April 27th) to Wednesday (May 1st), when they return to school, lecturers will proactively schedule make-up classes for students to avoid causing them any inconvenience," Dr. Kha said.

Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry has also announced that its staff, employees, trainees, and students will have 3 days off, from Monday (April 29) to Wednesday (May 1). The university has swapped the working day from Monday (April 29) to Saturday (May 4).

Students at the University of Economics and Finance Ho Chi Minh City will have up to 8 days off for the April 30th and May 1st holidays, as these coincide with the end of the first semester.

However, at some schools, the holiday period is longer because the holiday coincides with the end of the first semester and the beginning of the second semester.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Dung, Director of the Communication Center at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said that according to the plan issued at the beginning of the 2023-2024 academic year, students will take their end-of-semester exams from April 16th to April 29th and begin the new semester on May 6th.

Therefore, since the end of the semester exams coincided with the April 30th and May 1st holidays, students at the school were given 6 days off, from April 30th to May 5th.

Similarly, students at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance also finished their semester exams on April 27th and started their new semester on May 6th. Therefore, according to Ms. Truong Thi Ngoc Bich, Director of the Information and Communication Center of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance, the students' holiday period lasted 8 days, from April 28th to May 5th.

It is known that, in most other universities, unless it falls during exam periods or the end of the semester, students will have at least 3 days and at most 5 days off according to the general schedule issued by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs after the Prime Minister agreed to swap working days so that workers can have 5 days off for the April 30 - May 1 holiday.
