The number of dengue fever and hand, foot, and mouth disease cases has decreased.

(Dong Nai) - On September 7th, information from the Dong Nai Department of Health indicated that in the 36th week, the number of dengue fever, hand, foot and mouth disease, and whooping cough cases in the province decreased compared to the previous week.

Specifically, 893 cases of dengue fever were recorded (a decrease of 153 cases); 146 cases of hand, foot, and mouth disease (a decrease of 21 cases); and no cases of whooping cough were recorded (a decrease of 3 cases). Meanwhile, the number of measles cases remained the same as the previous week at 10 cases; and 3 new outbreaks of rabies were recorded in dogs (an increase of 3 outbreaks).

From the beginning of 2025 to the present, Dong Nai province has recorded more than 13,700 cases of dengue fever, more than 5,600 cases of hand, foot and mouth disease, and more than 7,300 cases of measles.

To prevent the spread of dengue fever, over the past week, the Dong Nai Provincial Center for Disease Control has distributed Cloramin B disinfectant to the Vinh Cuu Regional Health Center. A second round of large-scale mosquito spraying was carried out in Suoi Quyt hamlet, Xuan Duong commune, Dong Nai province. Simultaneously, the center is monitoring and supervising the infectious disease situation and the handling of outbreaks in affected areas. Communication efforts are being intensified to raise public awareness of the dangers of dengue fever in particular, and other infectious diseases in general, to encourage proactive disease prevention.

The Dong Nai Department of Health assesses that the dengue fever situation is becoming increasingly complex, with erratic weather changes compared to previous years. Currently, it is the rainy season, creating favorable conditions for mosquitoes to breed and develop. In addition, some people remain complacent in dengue fever prevention and control, leading to a high risk of dengue fever outbreaks in local areas.
