On September 24th, in an exchange with a reporter from Thanh Nien Newspaper regarding parents demanding payment from an international school in Nha Be district, the leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training stated that the Department has received information about the incident at the American International School Vietnam and has reported it to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

The head of the Department of Education and Training added that on September 22, some parents of students from the American International School of Vietnam came to the Department of Education and Training to present the matter. The Department has also assigned the Non-Public Education Division to investigate the matter first, and next week, a delegation from the Department will go down to work directly with the school.

The leader also emphasized that, in whatever happens in school, the rights of students must be ensured and given top priority.

As reported by Thanh Nien Newspaper, on September 22nd, several parents of students at the American International School Vietnam filed a complaint and demanded that the school repay tens of billions of VND in debt.

Providing information to a reporter from Thanh Nien Newspaper, Mr. NCT, a parent of a student at the American International School Vietnam, stated that in February 2018, the school, through its legal representative, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ut Em (Chairperson of the School Board), signed a loan agreement with him for a total amount of approximately 5 billion VND, with a 0% interest rate.

The loan agreement stipulated that Mr. T.'s two children would receive tuition-free education and training during their regular school years. According to the agreement, the school would repay the loan upon the children's completion of their studies or transfer to another school.

By December 2022, Mr. T. had completed the school transfer procedures and had several meetings with school representatives. The school promised to repay the loan by March 2023 as per the contract.

"The school committed in writing to reimburse me in four installments from March 19th to June 30th, 2023. However, after months of waiting, I still haven't received the money. Then, Ms. Ut Em committed in a written agreement to pay me in three installments from July 15th to September 15th, but to this day I haven't received a single penny," Mr. T. said.

Reportedly, on the morning of September 21st, several parents carrying banners went to the American International School Vietnam demanding that the school pay its debts as per the contract.
