On the afternoon of December 5th, the Chief of Staff of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training provided the latest information regarding the Lunar New Year holiday schedule for students in Ho Chi Minh City.
Students in Ho Chi Minh City hope for adjustments to the Lunar New Year holiday schedule.
Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of the Office of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, said that in the 2024-2025 school year timetable, the Lunar New Year holiday schedule is currently only provisional. By the end of 2024, at the end of the first semester, based on the actual learning plan, the Department of Education and Training and schools will have a more specific and realistic schedule.
At the same time, Mr. Minh stated that, based on an assessment of the actual implementation of the plan by schools in Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Education and Training has submitted a proposal to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City requesting approval to change the Lunar New Year holiday schedule for 2025 to ensure it is appropriate and provides sufficient time for the school year plan.
According to the Lunar New Year holiday schedule stipulated in the 2024-2025 school year plan issued by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, this school year, more than 1.7 million preschool children and students from primary to high school in Ho Chi Minh City will have their Lunar New Year holiday from January 25, 2025 (the 26th day of the 12th lunar month) to February 2, 2025 (the 5th day of the 1st lunar month).
Based on the Lunar New Year holiday schedule mentioned above, including weekends before and after the specified period, students in Ho Chi Minh City will have a total of 9 days off.
Meanwhile, for the Lunar New Year holiday in 2024 (Year of the Dragon), students in Ho Chi Minh City had a break from February 5th, 2024 (the 26th day of the 12th lunar month) to February 18th, 2024 (the 9th day of the 1st lunar month). Including weekends before and after the stipulated period, students in Ho Chi Minh City had a total of 16 days off.
Therefore, if the projected timeframe is applied, students in Ho Chi Minh City will have 7 days less of a Lunar New Year holiday in 2025 compared to the previous year.
With the Tet holiday period as described above, in recent days, many parents, students, and teachers have expressed their desire to have the holiday extended so that students have more time off to meet their needs of returning to their hometowns...
