Details of the Lunar New Year holiday schedule for 2026 at 30 top universities.

According to an announcement from the Ministry of Interior , officials, civil servants, and employees of administrative agencies, public service organizations, political organizations, and socio-political organizations will have a 5-day Lunar New Year holiday in 2026, including 1 day before Tet and 4 days after Tet.

Therefore, the official Tet holiday will begin on Monday, February 16, 2026 (the 29th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Snake) and end on Friday, February 20, 2026 (the 4th day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Horse).

In addition to the 5-day Lunar New Year holiday, civil servants and public employees get 4 consecutive days off according to their regular weekly schedule. Public sector agencies have a holiday period of up to 9 consecutive days.

Based on the training schedule, many universities have also planned Tet holiday breaks for their students.

Hanoi University of Education, University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi University of Water Resources , etc., have a planned Tet holiday break from February 9th to February 22nd, 2026 (from the 22nd day of the 12th lunar month to the 6th day of the 1st lunar month).

With this holiday schedule, students typically have about half a month off for the Lunar New Year.

Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry, etc., are giving students a 4-week break for the 2026 Lunar New Year.
