Accordingly, immediately after receiving information from the Center for Historical Research and Heritage Conservation of Thanh Hoa on May 3 about the discovery of signs of encroachment on the tomb of King Le Tuc Tong in the Lam Kinh Historical Relic Site, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa proactively coordinated with the functional departments of the People's Committees of Ngoc Lac and Tho Xuan districts, and the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police to inspect the scene, seize tools, verify related data, make a record and hand over exhibits to serve the investigation; at the same time, report the content of the incident, request direction from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
The tomb of King Le Tuc Tong in Lam Kinh historical relic site was violated.
According to the report of the Center for Historical Research and Heritage Conservation of Thanh Hoa, the initial inspection and working results of the authorities showed that the Tomb of King Le Tuc Tong was dug by 3 Chinese subjects, the hole was 90cm x 52cm in size; about 1.6m deep and the stone stele was broken. 14 pieces of stone stele with Chinese characters and dragon decorations of the Le Dynasty were found at the scene (Verified as tombstones) with some Chinese characters on the fragments: "Dai Viet Tuc Tong Nhuong..." engraved in vertical rows, large-sized, engraved with lines, Khai font with the content of the temple name of King Le Tuc Tong and 15 pieces of dark gray bricks.
The artifacts were sealed in iron boxes by Thanh Hoa Provincial Police and kept at the Lam Kinh Historical Relic Site’s artifact warehouse to serve the investigation. Currently, the subjects who dug up and violated the tomb are being arrested by Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, who are investigating and clarifying the case according to the provisions of law.
The report also confirmed that, through the overall inspection process, the current status of other relics at Lam Kinh historical relic (except for King Le Tuc Tong's tomb) is safely protected, with no signs of encroachment. The architectural works, tombs, stele systems (which are national treasures), and artifacts at the relic are protected, preserved, restored, and prevented from deterioration regularly every year. The work of protecting and ensuring the safety of the relic is always focused on, the entire center of the relic has been installed with a camera system and barbed wire fences, and boundary markers to prevent encroachment.
Regarding the current status of other tombs and mausoleums in Thanh Hoa province, according to the initial review and inspection results of the Thanh Hoa Center for Historical Research and Heritage Conservation, 18 tombs of Kings, Queens, and mandarins have been ranked as special national monuments at the national level; 37 tombs of mandarins have been ranked at the provincial level and 24 tombs of mandarins that have not been ranked are currently being managed, protected and promoted by local authorities and descendants.
Thanh Hoa Province Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that in order to strengthen management, protection, promote values, ensure security and safety for relics, artifacts and antiquities belonging to the relics; Prevent and handle acts of theft, excavation, salvage, illegal trading and exchange of relics and antiquities in the province in Thanh Hoa province in general, at the national historical and architectural relic Lam Kinh in particular, according to the direction of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Cultural Heritage, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province has issued Official Dispatch No. 6467/UBND-VHXH on strengthening the management, protection, prevention and handling of acts of theft, excavation, salvage, illegal trading and exchange of relics and antiquities in the province and Official Dispatch No. 6657/UBND-VHXH on ensuring security and safety for relics, relics and antiquities in the relics, in which the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is assigned to preside over and coordinate with departments, branches, units and local authorities, based on current regulations of the law on cultural heritage and relevant legal provisions, promptly and synchronously implement many solutions. On May 13, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province issued Official Dispatch No. 2145/SVHTTDL-DSVH to relevant departments, branches, units and People's Committees of districts/towns/cities in the province on strengthening the management, protection, ensuring safety and security for relics; preventing and handling acts of theft, digging, salvaging, trading, and illegal exchange of relics and antiquities in the province.
